I’ve been looking at some pretty incredible rates for Hawaii, and I wanted to share what I found!

How does six nights on the Big Island of Hawaii sound?

Right now, I’m finding round-trip flights from New Orleans to Kona, along with a six-night stay at the beautiful OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa, starting around $2,900 for TWO people! That’s airfare, accommodations, and taxes included!

These rates are for select travel dates from February through May 2027.

I’ve been to the Big Island several times, but perhaps my most memorable trip was in November 2016 when I ran the Ragnar Relay.

Most of my running legs were between midnight and 4 a.m., and I’ll never forget how beautiful it was running along the coast in the middle of the night. The moon was shining down on the Pacific Ocean to my right, lighting up the water, while the mountains rose to my left. There was something so peaceful about being out there at that hour, surrounded by all that natural beauty. It’s one of those memories that has stayed with me all these years. I’m sharing a couple of photos from that trip!

And if you’ve never been to the Big Island, there is SO much to see and do!

🌋 Visit Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, home to two of the world’s most famous volcanoes, Kīlauea and Mauna Loa.

🏖️ Explore beautiful beaches, including the famous black sand beach at Punaluʻu, where you may even spot Hawaiian green sea turtles!

☕ Tour a Kona coffee farm and learn why coffee grown on this island is so special.

🌺 Spend some time in Kailua-Kona, enjoying the waterfront restaurants, shops, and beautiful sunsets.

🐠 Go snorkeling or experience one of the island’s most memorable adventures, a nighttime manta ray snorkeling excursion.

🌄 Take a scenic drive across the island to discover waterfalls, tropical rainforests, and some of the most beautiful landscapes you’ll ever see.

And after a day of exploring, you can return to OUTRIGGER Kona Resort & Spa, relax by the pool, and enjoy the ocean views!

A few things to know: Pricing is based on two adults traveling together, includes airfare, accommodations, and applicable taxes, and is subject to availability and change until booking is confirmed. Rental cars, airport transportation, excursions, and any additional resort fees are not included.

I came across something that I wanted to share with families who may benefit from it! ❤️

Inclusive Navigators offers grants to help neurodivergent individuals and families enjoy meaningful travel experiences that might otherwise be financially out of reach.

These grants may provide hotel stays, travel vouchers, attraction tickets, or other travel-related assistance.

Who qualifies?

✈️ You must be a neurodivergent individual OR the parent/guardian of a neurodivergent child.

✈️ You must live in the United States.

✈️ Your travel plans must align with the organization’s mission of supporting growth, well-being, and meaningful experiences.

✈️ Financial need is considered when reviewing applications.

✈️ You’ll need to explain where you’d like to travel, when, why the experience is important, and how the grant would make a difference.

✈️ Recipients must be willing to share a brief reflection, photo, or video after their trip.

One important thing to know: Applications for travel grants are currently closed, but the organization says they plan to reopen in Spring 2027. I’m sharing this now so interested families have time to learn about the program and prepare.

I am not affiliated with Inclusive Navigators or its grant program, nor do I have any involvement in selecting recipients or awarding grants.

However, as a travel advisor, I’m always happy to be a resource if you have general questions about destinations, travel logistics, or planning a trip that accommodates specific needs. There’s absolutely no obligation to book anything through me.

🎄 Have you ever heard of Leavenworth, Washington?

I was looking at Christmas destinations, and this little town caught my attention!

It’s a Bavarian-style village nestled in the Cascade Mountains, and during the holidays, the entire town looks like something out of a Hallmark Christmas movie.

But what I really love is that there’s so much more to do than just admire the Christmas lights!

You can take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the snow, visit a reindeer farm where you can actually feed the reindeer, go snow tubing or skiing, or even take a snowmobile tour through the mountains.

If you’re not into winter sports, you can spend an afternoon exploring the little shops, enjoying German food, visiting local wineries, or just relaxing with a warm drink.

And when evening rolls around, the village is lit up with more than half a million Christmas lights!

I think this would make such a fun three- or four-night getaway, especially for families with children, couples, or a group of girlfriends.

If you’ve been wanting to do something a little different for Christmas this year, this might be worth putting on your list!

There is a particular quiet that settles over Lake Louise at six in the morning. The water holds perfectly still. The Victoria Glacier catches the first light. And for a few minutes, before the crowds arrive, it feels like the whole valley belongs to you.

That moment is the reason to go to Banff. Here's how I would spend five days there.

Day One: Into the Rockies The drive west from Calgary takes about 90 minutes, and the prairie gives way to the mountains so gradually that you'll find yourself sitting up a little straighter with every mile. Arrive in Banff by afternoon. Walk Banff Avenue as the light turns gold on Cascade Mountain, then linger over a dinner of Alberta beef or bison.

Day Two: The Lakes Lake Louise at sunrise, then the climb to the Lake Agnes Tea House, a small log cabin that has been pouring tea for hikers for more than a hundred years. In the afternoon, Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks, a view so iconic it once appeared on the back of the Canadian twenty dollar bill.

Day Three: The Icefields Parkway Some 230 kilometers of road between Lake Louise and Jasper, and a strong contender for the most beautiful drive on the continent. Pull over at Peyto Lake, where glacial silt turns the water an almost unbelievable shade of turquoise. Continue north to the Columbia Icefield and step out onto the Athabasca Glacier.

Day Four: Canyon and Summit Morning in Johnston Canyon, where catwalks bolted to the limestone walls lead you to the Lower and Upper Falls. Afternoon on the Banff Gondola, rising to the summit of Sulphur Mountain with six mountain ranges spread out below. Finish the way travelers have since the 1880s... in the mineral waters of the Banff Upper Hot Springs.

Day Five: One Last Look A morning cruise on Lake Minnewanka, the largest lake in Banff National Park, before the drive back to Calgary.

A word of advice: Banff in summer rewards the traveler who plans early. Private cars are no longer allowed at Moraine Lake, shuttle seats go quickly, and knowing the right time to arrive at each stop is something you only learn from experience. I've already done that part.

Senior trip planning for the Class of 2027.

If you are the one organizing your school's senior trip, read this.

Last month I hosted a national conference at Disney for over 1300 teens and their advisors. Hotel contracts. Room blocks. Flights. Meal counts. Motorcoach transportation. A daily schedule that moved a few thousand people through sessions, meals, and evening events without anyone getting lost.

That is group travel planning. I have been doing it for over 25 years.

Booking a senior class trip is not the same as booking a family vacation. You need someone who reads the attrition clause before you sign. Someone who knows the cutoff dates, the deposit schedule, and how to build an itinerary that holds up when 40 teenagers hit a buffet line at the same time.

I handle the hotel contract, the flights, the airport transfers, the payment deadlines, and the parent questions. You handle the permission slips.

Senior trips I am booking now... cruises, the Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica, and more.
