I just came back from two weeks of cycling in Majorca. the island was very empty and quiet. Hopefully that will change soon. There are signs that Spain will welcome fully vaccinated US citizens with negative PCR test. in anticipation of this, i am planning to hold the 2021 MajorcaCycling Fall Riding Camp in October. of course, everybody has to decide for her/himself whether to travel internationally, if travel is possible. i updated our website accordingly. check it out. i am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Somewhere in the beautiful Serra Tramuntana mountains in Majorca this past February. Hopefully, i will be back with my MajorcaCycling guests for the MajorcaCycling Fall Riding Camp mid-October.
Spain started opening up slowly - maybe hotels will open up by the fall. For the MajorcaCyclingFall Riding Camp we will be in a new hotel and new location - totally different part of the island.

I came back from Majorca last Thursday. It is too cold here - i want to go back to Majorca riding in warm sunshine and shorts. Unfortunately, that is not in the books for now. Fortunately, i only have to wait till March 24 to host the MajorcaCycling Spring Riding Camp for 35 cyclists.

After more than 10 years of winter riding in Santa Barbara, California, this year i opted to do some winter riding in Majorca/Mallorca, Spain. All good things come to an end: in my case, 10 days of riding in perfect, cool winter weather with splendid sunshine on beautiful roads and stunning scenery. We, my German friend Volker Kottig and me, hit the road for 10 consecutive days and logged 1,242 km/776 miles with 11,639 meters / 38,400 feet of climbing. We even saw some pros during the Mallorca Challenge. Actually, Vyacheslav Kuznetsov, formerly Katusha, of Gazprom was my next door neighbor in the hotel we stayed. He finished 10th and 20th in his races
The purpose of this trip was to familiarise myself with this part of the island as I consider this location, Playa de Palma, for the MajorcaCycling Fall Riding Camp in october. In March/April i will be back with 35 guests for the MajorcaCycling Spring Riding Camp. I took far too many pictures, and some i want to share here. If you ever consider a cycling trip to Majorca, join the Majorca expert MajorcaCycling - you will not be disappointed. You can count on Garmin Hajo to take you o the nicest routes - guaranteed. Now, i am looking forward to some rest days.

We rode about 60 km for this view and coffee break - how far back? it depends ...another gorgeous day in cycling paradise. Www.MajorcaCycling.com
Now we know: we added two more climbs, followed by fast descents, and some strong headwind at times for a total of 160 km or 100 miles - a very good day on the bike!!

Some impressions from our 90 mile, 7,300 feet of climbing adventure today. Which ever way you turn, especially in the Serra Tramuntana mountains, the scenery is gorgeous, and the riding is outstanding. Basically no cars on the road, and at this time of year not many cyclists - at least on the roads where we suffered. If you ever considet a cycling trip to Majorca, please talk to me.

When you travel with MajorcaCycling, you will meet cycling prominence, ex-pros, like my long-time friend Erik Zabel, six times winner of the Green Jersey at the TdF. Erik is busy with the teams during the Mallorca Challenge sponsored by Canyon: Movistar, Arkea, and Eisberg, otherwise he would go for a ride with us.

Third ride, first coffee and cake break. When we arrived the whole Bora Hansgrohe team was in the process of leaving. I invited them to join us for coffee - my treat - but they politely declined. The host said they stopped there every day the last couple of days - but not tomorrow, first stage of Mallorca Challenge. Movistar team including Valverde arrived today at the hotel.

This was a tough climb to this castell. My garmin showed 18% at some points, and my heartrate topped at 160, but the blue sky made up for it. You need a MajorcaCycling ride leader to find this climb, it is hard but beautiful. Reward is nice views. Www.MajorcaCycling.com

On my way to some warm weather riding on awsome roads. Super roads with basically no traffic, and challenging climbs are waiting for me. The pictures were taken during the 2019 MajorcaCycling Fall Riding Camp. Weather forecast indicates super cycling weather, low to mid 60s. The next two weeks i will test a new location, new hotel, new routes for the 2020 MajorcaCycling Fall Riding Camp. The 2020 MajorcaCycling Spring Riding Camp will take place in March, April based in the tested and proven location. Next week is the Mallorca Challenge, the European season opener. I will be staying in the same hotel as many of the pro teams - maybe i will find a pro or two who will ride with me - a mile or two. Www.MajorcaCycling.com
