I'm in Paris for a spring refresh of my wardrobe (and an unintentional reminder that I do, in fact, occasionally suffer from seasonal allergies). Since losing 100 lbs. and having the opportunity to re-imagine myself for my next chapter (I turn 50 in a month!) I've been reevaluating my wardrobe preferences. I've shared many of these ideas in my recent books, including The Intentional Wardobe
https://a.co/d/0gXzKGVL , but one of the best decisions I've made is to find a color palette that is easy to coordinate regardless of the pieces. Once I return from Paris, I will share all of my favorite French brands, the pieces I chose (and why), and how to style them all in multiple ways for this ever changing Gen X body.

For now, enjoy a sneak peek of a gorgeous linen dress from Destree that sadly did not make the cut! I adore the rich texture of the buttons and the Hermès-inspired saddle design off the pocket flap. This orange clay color reminds me of Valley of Fire in Nevada and is spot on as an accent in my wardrobe. Sadly, the bust was a bit too small, thus this midi-dress did not make the cut. I will definitely keep an eye on the pre-loved markets in the US for Destree in the future and I now have a good idea of the sizing that works for me.

The final months of winter offer a rare interval for travel that values depth over distraction. As landscapes rest and tourism slows, sacred and intentional places reveal themselves with greater clarity. Traveling during this season is not an escape from the world but a conscious turning toward it—choosing stillness, restraint, and ecological sensitivity over accumulation. When approached in winter, spiritual destinations invite travelers to participate in a slower rhythm that honors both inner restoration and environmental balance. Find four options to slow down and live in these final winter weeks in my recent article at www.vagabondzen.com.

Maui: Island of Light & Living Spirit

Discover Maui like never before with Maui: Island of Light and Living Spirit—a spiritual travel guide that goes far beyond beaches and resorts. From the breathtaking sunrise over Haleakalā to the lush beauty of the Road to Hana, this book reveals the island as a living, sacred presence that nourishes the soul as much as it delights the senses.

Blending travel tips with cultural wisdom, Danielle D’Costa shows you how to experience Maui with intention. You’ll learn meaningful rituals, meditations, and reflections that transform each stop—whether it’s walking the sands of Ka‘anapali, exploring ʻĪao Valley, or listening to the ocean in Pāʻia—into a journey of connection and renewal.

Rooted in the Hawaiian values of aloha (love), ʻāina (land), and mālama (care), this book invites you to become more than a visitor. It guides you to travel with reverence, honor sacred places, and carry home the spirit of the island in your everyday life.

Perfect for the spiritual seeker, the mindful adventurer, or anyone longing to experience Maui with heart and reverence, Maui: Island of Light and Living Spirit is both a companion and a keepsake. It will inspire you to walk lightly, breathe deeply, and carry aloha wherever life takes you—long after the island’s sands have slipped from your feet.

There is a particular magic to traveling in the narrow seam between winter and spring. The world has not yet committed to bloom, yet it no longer fully belongs to dormancy. Snow still clings to shaded slopes while early blossoms test the air with tentative color. This in-between state—what mystics and poets alike recognize as liminal space—creates a mirror for our own inner threshold moments. When we travel during this edge season, we step into a landscape that reflects transition itself, inviting us to loosen our attachment to who we have been and gently rehearse who we are becoming. The Packing Pyramid: A Timeless Approach to Traveling Well

There is an elegance to traveling light—not as an exercise in restriction, but as a study in intention. The Packing Pyramid is a classic framework that brings clarity to the often-chaotic act of preparing for a journey. Rather than packing by impulse or occasion, it invites you to think in layers, starting with foundational pieces and building upward toward versatility and refinement. The result is a wardrobe that feels cohesive, adaptable, and quietly luxurious—equally suited to airport lounges, cobblestone streets, and unplanned discoveries.

Early spring is not a season of spectacle; it is a season of movement. The body, stiff from winter’s contraction, remembers its original intelligence through walking. Step by step, circulation returns, breath deepens, and something ancient reawakens. To walk in early spring is to participate in emergence. The ground may still be cold, the air undecided, but forward motion itself becomes a declaration: we are no longer waiting. We are re-entering life through our feet. Thrift shopping for luxury clothing and goods is less about “getting lucky” and more about cultivating a practiced eye. The best secondhand finds rarely announce themselves loudly; they sit quietly on racks and shelves, waiting for someone who recognizes quality in construction, fabric, and proportion. When approached with intention, thrifting becomes a refined method of building a wardrobe that feels personal, elevated, and sustainably sourced—often at a fraction of the original price. Find my guidelines for thrifting your own luxury wardrobe in a recent article at www.vagabondzen.com.

My latest book has been published on Amazon!

The Well-Traveled Wardrobe is not a fashion book — it is a philosophy of refined living for women who value elegance, ease, and discernment. Written for the woman who has lived, traveled, and evolved, this book guides readers toward a wardrobe that reflects who they are now, not who trends or past identities suggest they should be. Through a blend of style intelligence and soulful reflection, it teaches how to dress with quiet authority, simplify without sacrifice, and carry oneself with confidence in every destination and season of life.
