Advisory:
As of January 3, 2026, numerous airlines and airports are reporting flight delays and cancellations that could affect travelers:
The Miami Herald reports that dozens of flights to Caribbean destinations have been canceled to Caribbean destinations this morning as the FAA closed airspace after the U.S. military strike on Venezuela.
American Airlines says the airspace shutdown is affecting flights to 19 destinations.
According to Delta’s website, Delta began canceling flights early this morning in compliance with FAA airspace closures in the Caribbean.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is planning to make a decision later today regarding flights to and from Curaçao and other island destinations in the region.
United Airlines is reporting that numerous Caribbean airports are affected by the airspace closure.
As of this writing, the Dutch caretaker prime minister Dick Schoof assured the Caribbean islands of Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire that they could count on Dutch support following the U.S. strike. More news from the Dutch News service can be found here.
Travel Warnings and Advisories:
The U.S. State Department has Venezuela under a Level 4: Do Not Travel advisory.
The U.S. State Department also issued a new travel alert early Saturday, urging Americans in Venezuela to "shelter in place" due to the situation.
We are closely monitoring for updates to the travel advisory status of other destinations in the region.
The U.S. Department of State currently advises travelers to exercise normal precautions for travel to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.
For travelers traveling from Canada, current guidance also recommends normal security precautions when traveling to Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao.
