Vegas residents, Mob Museum is comped today 😎
The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre took place on February 14, 1929, inside the S.M.C. Cartage Company garage in Chicago. Seven members of George Moran’s bootlegging operation were gunned down by four men, two dressed as police, wielding Thompson submachine guns and a shotgun. A section of the wall where the victims stood is on display at The Mob Museum. Though the wall was torn down in 1967, the bricks traveled through exhibits and collections before finding a permanent home at the Museum in 2012. This photo, taken on the day of the Massacre, shows the exterior of the garage with an artist’s depiction of what the scene may have looked like inside just before the shooting. As one of the most infamous events of the Prohibition-era, the Massacre is a grim reminder of organized crime’s violent past. On February 14, The Mob Museum will showcase artifacts from the event, including the Thompson submachine guns, to mark its 13th anniversary with FREE admission for Nevada residents and buy-one, get-one admission for non-residents.
