I am a travel agent - I have an advanced degree in accounting, public relations, marketing, computer science, civil engineering and of course Swahili is one my more fluent languages amidst the other twenty six I speak.
I am a travel agent - Yes, I clearly remember the reservation you booked in 7 minutes, over the phone five years ago even though you do not have the confirmation number and are not sure if you had booked under the surname beginning with a D, T, E or a Z and can't remember if it was Majorca or Menorca you visited.
I am a travel agent - It is no problem for me to book you eight inter-connecting non-smoking poolside suites for the same cost as a standard twin. And yes it is entirely my fault if the hotel does not upgrade you for your "birthday in resort" even though it is clearly in May, yet you are travelling in November.
I am a travel agent - It is obvious to me that when you booked your reservation for Friday you actually meant Saturday.
I am a travel agent - Yes, I am lying when I say that the flight, which leaves tomorrow is fully booked and there are no seats left even though someone else told you they were there 3 weeks ago.
I am a travel agent - I am never offended when I spend almost all day researching a 12 day European itinerary only to hear you say that you booked it yourself on the internet and made a great saving of Eur 13 with some low-cost airline. And no, I never gloat when you call back to say that you are stuck in the middle of nowhere since your flights were cancelled and you were not 'rerouted' by your internet provider.
I am a travel agent - I love it when people walk up to me at parties or over the weekend asking me for availability of seats and air prices to Australia or Ibiza or Bermuda ''off the top of my head', "just roughly of course"
I am a travel agent - Do not bother giving me any dates or destinations since I AM psychic and can read minds and can tell you where you are travelling to before you even open your mouth.
I am a travel agent - Of course I know what visa/innoculation requisites are required immediately, ask me about any country in the world. Obviously I spend an hour between 6 and 7am every day memorising every currency exchange rate on earth too.
I am a travel agent - Yes I love it when you ask me to book you to.....any destination....any time....money no problem...to then be told that it's way out of budget.
I smile, I empathise, I sympathise, I console, I hold my temper, I perform, sing, dance and make coffee...
I love my job - I AM A TRAVEL AGENT!
