My first weekend in Tanzania. I was in Arusha for the previous week staying at The Greenhouse Hostel where I was placed by the volunteering program I signed up with. Benson Mariki was my host and guide for this entire week. He is also the proprietor of the hostel. Turned the old family home into it.

Then, once the weekend came, he gave me and Ashley Lee a tour of the surrounding towns, Moshi & Marangu. Got to visit beautiful hot springs, waterfalls and the center at the base of Kilimanjaro. Unforgettable weekend!

Since I was at an age even younger than most of these kids, I dreamt one day, I would be able to work with kids in Africa. That day finally came last month as I was able to volunteer at Christ Hope Orphanage in Arusha, Tanzania for a week.

I can't describe the feeling of being there and surrounded by these beautiful kids! They are so full of life, happy & greatful for everything. So many things are needed there though! I really hope to be able to continue to make a difference in their lives. They have certainly changed mine.

Well, a very pleasant surprise today as we head north, through Central California. What a beautiful place! It appears there is boating, camping and day use activities. Though, at the moment are limited, due to the COVID pandemic. This is definitely a place worthy of a return visit, and we are looking forward to it!
