Yesterday, we rode from Jaisalmer into the Thar Desert — a short ride, but absolutely worth it. Our first stop was Bada Bagh, the beautiful royal cenotaphs of the Jaisalmer royal family. This is where the royals of Jaisalmer were cremated, and the tradition continued until recent times — the last ceremony was held in 2020 after the Maharaja passed away.

Next, we explored the fascinating village of Kuldhara, often called the “haunted village."
Legend says that in the 19th century, a minister of Jaisalmer wanted to forcibly marry the village chief’s daughter. Rather than submit, the people of Kuldhara — along with 83 neighbouring villages — vanished overnight, leaving behind a curse that no one would ever live there again.
But the real reason behind their departure was likely far more practical: years of drought and a shortage of water forced the villagers to move elsewhere in search of a better life.

After spending a wonderful time in Kuldhara — with around 80 curious kids joining us! — we finally checked in at Sam Desert. The evening was all about a camel safari, golden dunes, camp fun, and doing every possible crazy thing in the desert!
