Cedar Falls at Hocking Hills State Park.

I love that early early settlers named it for the wrong tree, and the name stuck. Much like the misnaming of the Olentangy River. What’s in a name? A waterfall by any other name would look as beautiful.

So I love time-lapse photos of waterfalls. Who doesn’t? I bought a backpack so I could run with my Fuji DSLR. I brought the camera and backpack, but I had planned on running a less scenic mountain bike trail. About a quarter mile in I spotted a trail ‘just to explore’ and ended up by Rose Lake and finally a trail leading to Cedar Falls. Oh well. We live in a world where iPhone time-lapse are still pretty darn good (and way more convenient than a backpack stuck to my sweaty back for 8 miles).

11 handwritten pages of the adventure completed. Should have it finished soon... and postcards. I should take an extra day off work following adventures just to wrap up all the stuff I like to do.

Old Man’s Cave at Hocking Hills. There is a reason everyone visits here. This is not even one of the names falls in the area. Anywhere else it would be a picnic destination. Here, most people walk past it with barely a second look. Such a gorgeous area!

Thanks to camping, we were able to get down to the cave area before the bulk of the tourists showed up. No people walking in front of my shot! And thanks to our RV, we didn’t freeze our behinds off in a tent. Life changing!

My loves. “Home is where we park it” and home is where the heart is. Well, my heart is parked right there.

Our second trip in the RV was a success. Hocking Hills was really showing off her colors. The weather was chilly, but dry. It was just Rhys, Holly, and Chad (and Lizzy, the dog). Instead of posting all the pics in one post like our last adventure, I’m going to save them and post them over the coming weeks, with descriptions. Chad will also write up his adventure journal for the website today and tomorrow. Oh yeah, and we bought postcards for all that requested them so those will be written soon.

This was the back of our campsite: Site 112. We actually had a huge open space, it just happened to be on the non-door side. No biggie. We had planned on cruising through the campground to take note of great spots. We forgot to do that, of course. Halloween was a hoot, and we plan on reserving for next year to make it a tradition. Making new family traditions is what it’s all about.

Come along on our maiden voyage in Gennie, our new RV, as we visit Lake Hope State Park. Hear about how Chad got lost in Zaleski State Forest and had to eat unidentified mushrooms to survive (only part of that statement is true - but which part?). Grab a cup of tea and read our Journal entry.
