O Breath from which we are born,
You are the light in all that lives.
May Your name
bloom in our steps.

May Your home
grow within us.
May Your will
flow through us
as it flows through the stars.

Feed us today
with what sustains life —
bread, stillness, meaning.

Untie within us
what binds the heart,
and teach us
to release others
without pain.

Guide us through the dark,
do not let us lose ourselves in fear,
and return us
to wholeness.

For all that lives
breathes through You.
And so it is.

Many years ago, I was asked to design a winery home for friends in the Alexander Valley. This year, that home and the vineyards were spared in the Kincade Fire. Kate Hafner was a small child then. She and her sister, Grace, now young adults, kept everyone appraised of the fire and its possible encroachment, through blog postings. This is their last, very touching post. Their winery and properties were saved, but so much damage all around them. And a lovely tribute to the fire fighters, who worked so valiantly to quell this fire... and fires throughout this lovely state.

As many people know, the Kincade Fire broke out in Alexander Valley and is close to Hafner Vineyard. We are monitoring its progress and will post updates here daily as we can. Thank you to all the first responders who part their lives in harm's way to protect our community. We are so grateful to eve...
