I was a successful fashion designer for over 25 years and I can’t remember a time when I didn’t share my home with a pet. When possible I have fostered rescue dogs and I’m a volunteer at the spca in Los Angeles. I started painting about 6 years ago and immediately fell in love with the medium. When it was time for a career change the decision as to what to do next was simple. I would combine my lo

ve for animals and my artistic talent and create pet portraits. An added bonus to this new venture is working closely with people who love animals and have an interest in art. The emotion that is evoked when a client sees their beloved pet immortalized in oil gives me great joy.

I started reading Redemption, by Nathan J. Winograd. It's about the shelter system in the U.S. and the overpopulation myth. Yes myth. It's a tough read. It takes you from anger and sadness to empowerment and hope.

So I was able to take a few shots at the Carson Shelter and I got permission to take more. If anyone is interested they have a couple hundred dogs to choose from. I didn't even get to the cats.
