A growing public awareness of the urban environment demands non-traditional solutions to existing environmental problems, and the firm's emphasis on sustainable design has contributed to its recognition by numerous public agencies. Withers & Sandgren's strength lies in the firm's range of expertise. Much of the principal's collective years of experience in landscape architecture directly relate to

environmental issues and the redefinition of urban environmental practices. Great emphasis is placed on quality of design in the urban environment to assist community identity. Shared resources are encouraged through the design and implementation of mixed-use developments in highly populated areas of the greater Los Angeles region. Water management, greening of streets and parks, rooftop gardens, and tree preservation are issues that are addressed regularly within the scope of many of the firm's projects. Going 6 years strong, our transformation of East LA's Brooklyn Early Education Center has given urban preschoolers an engaging, nature-based outdoor play space for delight and discovery. Los Angeles Unified School District 's first nationally certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom, it represents one of "the most exciting and innovative concepts currently being implemented at the District's early education centers."

Looking good! Checking on construction of our Wiseburn Walking Path near Hawthorne, a great project of the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks & Recreation.
