Allow me to reintroduce myself.
My name is Tracy Horan. I used to be a media sales chick in LA. Now I live between Bali and Manhattan Beach, California, curating thoughtful journeys into spectacular places.

From humble homestays (my favorite) to luxury resorts that truly walk their sustainability talk, I design travel that is human and connected. Every journey I create is grounded in responsibility, regeneration, respect, and reciprocity.

Through Little Emperors, I share insider access that turns great trips into effortless ones. Meaningful travel designed with care and guided by good people who love what they do.

When I’m not curating adventures, I’m writing essays and poetry that I’m too shy to share, walking coastlines, or climbing something tall enough to clear my head. Someone recently told me to write an anthology of LA stories, so I’m feeling smug and sentimental in equal measure.

Here’s to curiosity, courage, and seeing the world with eyes wide openšŸŖ·šŸ’«

A Week in Bali, Designed for Designers
Calling all architects, interior designers, stylists, and creative professionals! This is your invitation to step away from the drafting table and into the heart of design itself.
From February 25 to March 3, 2026, join us in Bali for a six-night, seven-day deep dive into the island’s most inspiring spaces, where craft, art, furniture, and architecture come alive.
You’ll walk through the private villas of visionary makers, explore studios where bamboo bends like sculpture, and visit workshops where materials meet imagination. Expect intimate conversations with artisans, curated sourcing opportunities, and days filled with inspiration, connection, and beauty.
This isn’t a retreat that sits still - it’s an immersive experience that redefines luxury through creativity, craftsmanship, and culture, the very essence of design.
The retreat is limited, and this one will fill quickly.

Melbourne doesn’t tiptoe, it makes an entrance (kinda like me).ļæ½Rain slick streets in South Yarra, neon bouncing off puddles, oysters at France Soir with a room full of regulars.
Friday at South Melbourne Market was abundance: duck from Baba, prawns eaten standing, cheese sharp enough to make me stop mid-bite. Moses & Co for teas, tinctures, and toothpaste!
The NGV hushed me with kimonos soft as whispers, only to throw me into Mecca’s glittering chaos (this place is way beyond Sephora and Olive Young!). Dinner was a debate, Supernormal or Cookie. Cookie shouted loudest. My Saturday stretched south to the Mornington Peninsula - vines at Polperro rolled toward the horizon, and at Point Nepean the cliffs and ocean roared.
Sunday softened in Red Hill, yoga by the fire at The Hut, coffee at Nordie, a little peace before the long ride home.
Melbourne’s final flourish - rain and more rain. The flight clawed through cloud and headwinds, dragging me backward into six restless hours, but Melbourne had the last word: indulgent, unpredictable, unforgettable. That’s what I like.
I like a good book too, and I’m just digging in to Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

I design bespoke travel experiences woven with style, story, and discovery. Ready for your own adventure? Let’s make it unforgettable.

Weekend in Melbourne šŸ’«
Some trips beg for tight plans and dinner reservations. Melbourne is not one of them. Melbourne asks you to wander, to leave a trail of half-formed ideas, and then let the city fill in the blanks. Like music, it’s the rests between the notes that carry the magic.

With that top of mind, I’d like to get to South Melbourne Market, because that’s where the locals are, and where flaky pastries and flat whites come standard issue. There’s no agenda beyond wandering: tasting, smelling, and people watching.

City life deserves a brush with beauty, and I hope to drift through the halls at the National Gallery of Victoria. No clock, no one rushing me along, heading to see their vast collection of First Nations works.

If the weather cooperates, I’ll steal a few hours on the Mornington Peninsula. Fingers crossed that the last day of winter (Southern Hemisphere!) will be kind and allow a trek along Bushrangers Bay, the briny scent of sea and eucalyptus as my companions. And for Pol Perro and Foxy’s Hangout in Red Hill to pull me in for a glass of wine or a long lazy lunch.

Before my flight back to Bali on Sunday, it’s Fitzroy, for vintage shops, street art, and a laneway cafĆ©.

The plan is simple: keep it loose, leave space for detours, and remember that the rests are often the best part. Lingering, drifting, saying yes to the unexpected. The beauty of traveling off script: discovering that the interludes, as much as the crescendos, are what stay with you long after the weekend ends.

Trip report with details, coming next week…

My Plus One

The elephant in the room is loneliness. It pops up on solo adventures like an uninvited guest who overstays their welcome.
At first, it feels a bit awkward, the empty chair at dinner, the extra glass on the table, the hotel bed that looks far too big for just you.

Plot twist: loneliness is actually the best travel companion you didn’t know you needed.

Once you stop resisting it, the magic happens. You hear the rhythm of your footsteps on cobblestones, catch the scent of freshly baked bread drifting from a bakery, feel the breeze as it tangles your hair. The world softens when you’re not rushing to fill every silence (and you put that phone down and stop scrolling).

Loneliness is gracious and tender. It dares you to strike up conversations with strangers, wander into that little shop, take a left turn just to see what happens.
It gives you permission to say yes when you’d usually play safe.
That empty chair? It becomes a kind of throne. The big bed? A stage for dreaming up your next adventure.

The quiet transforms into empowerment and discovery. You realize you don’t travel solo, you travel with the best version of yourself: curious, open, brave, and decisive.
