From the Croisette to Toronto: La Bola Negra won Best Director at Cannes, then the TIFF People's Choice Award, voted on by audiences.

That prize has a great record. Nomadland, Green Book, 12 Years a Slave, The King's Speech, Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty and Chariots of Fire all won it before winning Best Picture.

La Bola Negra tells the story of three generations of men, from 1932 to 2017, whose lives are intimately connected through desire, pain and love.

From directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi ("Los Javis"), starring Guitarricadelafuente, Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos González, Milo Quifes, Lola Dueñas, Julio Torres, Penélope Cruz and Glenn Close. In US theaters October 16.

The 83rd Venice International Film Festival has announced its winners, led by jury president Maggie Gyllenhaal. 🎬

Big congrats to Woman Unknown (TrustNordisk), directed by Danish-Egyptian director May el-Toukhy, for taking home the Golden Lion for Best Film. The drama unfolds in Denmark right after the N**i occupation during WWII.

And a huge congratulations to Nonny and Rory, whose Out of the Ashes won the Special Jury Prize at Venice Immersive!

There's nothing quite like arrivals at international film festivals like Venice. 🎬

La Mostra has a way of pulling cinema lovers in, whether you're standing on the carpet or in the crowd. This year welcomed Werner Herzog, 2025 recipient of the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, and his cast, including Orlando Bloom, for the premiere of Bucking Fastard, and the city was buzzing.

Now, cinema lovers wait: this Saturday, September 12, a jury led by Maggie Gyllenhaal announces the winners.

A giant grazie to spatial storytelling pioneer Nonny de la Peña and co-director Rory Mitchell for taking the time to meet with Take2Film at Venice Immersive to talk about their new documentary, Out of the Ashes.

This is unlike any wildfire coverage you've seen before. Out of the Ashes is a 26-minute immersive VR/XR documentary. Instead of the usual helicopter news footage, it puts viewers directly inside the burn zones of Pacific Palisades and Altadena, capturing the real human and environmental toll of the 2025 Southern California wildfires.

It was selected for competition at this year's Venice Immersive, part of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival. Winners will be announced this Saturday, September 12.

Take2Film exists to bring you closer to the experiences, industry, and people who make storytelling history — set against the most glorious cities in the world.

Vaporetto rides across the lagoon at golden hour. The hush before a premiere starts, the Sala Grande going dark. The best conversations happening after midnight nobody photographs. Effortlessly captivating, otherworldly and this year, we got to share it with a group who felt like family.
