For those of you who’ve never heard of Rent the Runway – it’s an online service that provides designer dresses & accessory rentals. If you are one of those ladies who buy a dress only to wear it once and then let it collect dust and take up space in your closet (which is unfortunate as we all know how valuable closet space is!)…renting a dress is the way to go! Here is how it works:
1. Find It – you can filter by color, length, trend, occasion and more to find what you are looking for (a dress you LOVE, duh!)
2. Reserve It – choose a delivery and return date (you can rent for either 4 or 8 days). You can even add a backup size for FREE if you are in between sizes and aren’t sure which one will fit. You can also add a 2nd style dress for $32.50 if you can’t make up your mind between 2 options. If you do decide to add two dress styles to your cart for the same delivery date, the lower priced style will automatically discount to $32.50. Even with 2 styles, you are still allowed 1 free backup size per order.
3. Receive It – The dress will be delivered via USP to your home, office or hotel by 8pm on your delivery date (for a 4-day rental this would be the Thursday before the holiday party).
4. Return It – Returns are FREE, you just place items in the provided packaging (which includes a pre-paid shipping label) and then drop the package off at any UPS drop box on your return date (for a 4-day rental this would be the Sunday after the holiday party). You don’t have to worry about dry cleaning it or anything (RTR does it for you when they receive your return shipment).
A four day rental allows you to get the dress on Thursday to try on and make sure it fits, Friday you can accessorize and find the right shoes for the dress (if you haven’t already), Saturday you wear it (and work it, girl) to the party, Sunday you return it to the nearest UPS dropbox by noon. If the dress (and backup size both) don’t fit and you didn’t get a 2nd style either, you simply contact RTR and they’ll overnight you another option at no additional charge! The other great thing about RTR is that each dress has reviews from real people so you can read if the dress fits true to size, runs big/small, is comfortable, etc. They also rent accessories like jewelry and hats, although their hat selection is pretty slim. I don’t know about you guys, but I think Rent the Runway should pay me for free advertising, lol! ;) Just kidding, but honestly…I personally have had great success with RTR so just wanted to share the option with those of you who have never heard of it; it’s definitely worth it considering some dresses are as low as $30 to rent!
Why buy when you can rent? Choose from thousands of designer pieces for special occasions and every day.
