To Our Friends and Music Fans,
When I set out to develop Festival at the Farm in 2016, I imagined a festival with open arms and a true sense of community. I envisioned a more relaxing festival, where young and old could enjoy music together, feeling right at home in a beautiful location. Simplicity was the key.
Somehow it all came together! How? Well, if you were one of our guests at Prowse Farm you experienced the culmination of thousands of separate instances of people simply saying, "yes".
Meditech and The Friends of Prowse Farm said "yes" and have been wonderfully supportive hosts, allowing us the use of an absolutely incredible location. The town of Canton and its public safety personnel said "yes" when we applied for permits. The amazing artists, talent agents and management teams all said "yes", delivering us so many amazing magical moments. Our sponsors, especially our friends at Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs and b.good, said "yes" when we needed partners to make it a reality. The talented vendors all said "yes" and put their hearts out there in 10'x10' tents and food trucks. Our production team and incredible volunteers all said "yes", giving us their time, effort and talent. And finally...of course, our guests all said "yes", putting trust in us by buying tickets and planning a weekend at Festival at the Farm.
It all became possible because everyone involved chose to say "yes" - believing that it was indeed possible. That sense of positivity wove itself into the fabric of Festival at the Farm.
Over the winter, we learned that our 2019 lease for Prowse Farm would not be renewed. Prowse Farm is a one-of-a-kind location...there is magic in the air beneath that hillside that might very well be impossible to replicate. We thought carefully about how we could remain vibrant and also feel familiar in a new location. Unfortunately, a suitable answer has not presented itself for 2019.
Personally, Festival at the Farm has been an incredible experience. As a small business owner, it represented my entrepreneurial leap, a crazy dream come to life before my very eyes. I am grateful to every single one of you for the help and support.
Will Festival at the Farm return? I can't answer that question today. My company, Six Chair Productions, will continue to produce events, chase dreams and bring people together. Hopefully over time we’ll find the right opportunity and Festival at the Farm will come alive once again. I've seen the power of "yes" firsthand.
With gratitude,
James Macdonald
