Let’s talk about the Star Princess and my first dining venue review.
The Star Princess is the largest ship sailing Alaska out of Seattle. (The biggest ship in Alaska is the Ovation of the Seas but she sails from Vancouver now). The Star holds 4,300 passengers and is 20 decks high. She is also the newest Princess ship and the last of the Sphere Class (yep, only 2 ships in this class). You can see my pics below. She is very nice, classy and sophisticated but also tricky to navigate in true Princess fashion. The cabin pictures are from my Sanctuary Suite cabin. Along with being a work cruise, this was also my 30th anniversary cruise so we splurged 😊.
There are (too) many dining venues on this ship. The first one we ate at was Catch by Rudy. The food was very good and well prepared. I had the surf and turf and my husband has the halibut (and my surf, I don’t eat seafood). This was a very nice embarkation day dinner.

Hi everyone! As many of you know, I am currently sailing on the Star Princess to Alaska. I had hoped to post every day and tell you all about this trip but we have been very busy. But I am going to start a series of posts talking about the ship, dining venues, excursions and much more.

First up- Embarkation day.
Smith Cove at Pier 91 is very busy. The Star shares the Pier with the Noordam. There are two ships at this Pier every day except Wednesdays. The key is patience. There are not as many port stewards as in the past, but don’t worry. Once you get through the first set of doors you can take your luggage over to the luggage site so you don’t have to carry it on.
The key to check-in is to be prepared! There is a reason why I tell you all to get those green checks on the app and have your medallions shipped to you (yes, they charge for shipping now). If you are all checked in, after you get through security, you will be in the ship in about 10 minutes 😊. If you are in the Sanctuary, you will have a priority lane.

And remember- check into your muster station first thing after you board!! Maybe with a glass of champagne in your hand 🥂.

This is Skipper, the new Chief Dog Officer on the Legend of the Seas. Dogs are not allowed on cruise ships unless they are trained and certified service dogs. Companion, comfort dogs are not allowed. What are your thoughts on dogs on cruise ships?
