In the words of Sestlavie...

My FIRST solo international vacation & I would not have wanted it to be anywhere else in the world BUT The Motherland! 🇬🇭❤️💛🖤💚

I started planning this trip a year ago while recovering from surgery. Traveling With Ja' was highly recommended by my Big Sis, MacyTravels. We connected and the rest is history!

I remember in my first conversation with TWJA, she informed me that my vacation would be customized specifically to ME and what I wanted to do during my time in Ghana. She sent me several messages of what Ghana had to offer, along with some recommendations. She answered every question that I had—and it was A LOT of them 😂. She was extremely patient with all of the requirements that the US Navy made sure I completed prior to my approval 🤯

The best part is that TWJA isn’t a one-woman show. She has a great team working alongside her. During my stay, I had a private tour guide and driver with me at all times when I wasn’t in my hotel room. Gertrude, my tour guide, gave me a brief history lesson and even started sending me videos TWO MONTHS prior to my arrival so that I could learn some of the country’s language, primarily Twi. I am SO thankful for that because it helped me engage in conversation more with Ghanaians. Many were actually shocked that I knew any of the language at all ☺️

I cannot brag about my tour guide and driver enough. They took GREAT care of me! I didn’t have to open a door, carry a bag, negotiate a price, order my food…the list goes on! 😂 The ease of just taking in every moment and actually LIVING in it as well was everything. 💛 TWJ curated my itinerary, ensuring that I experienced the full culture of Ghana and its history. Each day built upon the previous day’s experience!

This isn’t just a business; this is DEFINITELY her ministry! I know that many lives are touched and changed when they experience a “Traveling With Ja” extravaganza here in Ghana! My expectations were exceeded THOROUGHLY. 🥰

No camera can fully capture the feeling of hearing lions roar in the distance, watching a herd of elephants cross your path, or witnessing nature unfold in real time. Some experiences simply have to be lived.

Join us in February for our Kenya Cultural Safari, where wildlife, culture, and connection come together for the experience of a lifetime.

When I get to heaven I am going to ask God about this right here. I need to know WHY?!?! 🤔

This also proves that there is someone for everyone regardless of how you look. 😩😂

Seriously though...
It is called the Marabou stork. It’s one of the most distinctive birds you can encounter on a Kenyan safari. The enormous bill, mostly bare pinkish head and neck, dark wings, white underparts, and that large hanging throat pouch are classic Marabou features.

And they are fascinatingly unattractive for a reason. 😂 Their bald head and neck are adaptations for their scavenging lifestyle. Marabou storks frequently feed on carrion, and having fewer feathers around the head helps keep them cleaner when feeding on carcasses.

They are sometimes called “undertaker birds.” Their dark cloak-like wings, hunched posture, and bald head inspired the nickname.

They are enormous. Adults can stand around 5 feet tall, with a wingspan that can approach 10 feet.

They are part of nature’s cleanup crew. Like vultures, they consume carrion and organic waste, helping remove decomposing material from the environment.

That pouch isn't for storing food. The large pink structure hanging from the neck is a throat pouch used primarily in display and communication.

They aren't strictly scavengers. They'll also eat fish, frogs, insects, reptiles, small mammals, eggs, and sometimes other birds.

Just in case you’re new here, or you’ve been around for a while wondering who is this Ja’ Michelle girl and what exactly does she do?

Let me reintroduce myself. 🌍

I’m Ja’ Michelle, Global Tourism Strategist and owner of Traveling With Ja', a certified travel agency and tour operating company specializing in culturally immersive experiences.

Tourism is the foundation of everything I’ve built.

What started with creating culturally immersive travel experiences has grown into work rooted in culture, connection, entrepreneurship, community, and global impact.

Through tourism, I’ve built relationships in communities around the world. Those relationships gave birth to In These Global Streetz ™, our community collaborative initiative supporting education, entrepreneurship, sponsorships, and community-based projects.

Those same global connections extend into A Ja’ Moment, my platform for women, entrepreneurship, personal growth, and living unapologetically.

And GLO | Ghana Lux Organics grew directly from my connection to Ghana, allowing me to source products and ingredients directly from the places where they are grown, produced, and created.

So while you may see different branches, they all grow from the same tree.

Tourism is the trunk.

It created access.
Access created relationships.
Relationships created opportunities.
And those opportunities allowed me to create multiple streams of income while continuing to impact lives around the world.

I didn’t just build a career in tourism.

I turned tourism into a lifestyle and a livelihood.

None of what you see me doing is disconnected. It all grows from the same foundation and remains aligned with what I set out to do: transform lives.

And this is who I am In These Global Streetz™. 🌍

Safari highlights... the wide-mouth rhino. 🦏

Here in Kenya, many locals refer to it as the wide-mouth rhino, while much of the world knows it as the white rhino. Interestingly, they're not actually white. The name is believed to have originated from the Afrikaans word "wyd," meaning wide, referring to the animal's broad, square-shaped mouth that's perfectly designed for grazing on grass.

As one of Africa's legendary Big Five, seeing these incredible giants in the wild is always a special moment. Watching them quietly feed is a reminder that some of nature's most powerful animals move with remarkable calm.

Another unforgettable moment in these global streetz.
