Hi, we’re the family behind Hibernation Station. 🐻🏔️
So, why the Smoky Mountains?
For me, there’s something about these mountains that feels like coming home.
I grew up in Wales, surrounded by mountains, changing seasons and the kind of natural beauty that makes you slow down and notice it. The fresh, clean air. The sound of water running through a stream. Mist settling over the mountains. Cool mornings and changing leaves. And perhaps most importantly, a simpler pace of life.
The Smokies bring all of those memories rushing back. They hit every one of my senses and remind me of a childhood I feel incredibly fortunate to have had.
As life became busier and our own family grew, I wanted our children to experience some of that too—to get outside, explore, breathe the mountain air, play in streams, watch the seasons change and discover that sometimes the very best memories are made doing the simplest things together.
That’s why we chose Maggie Valley as our home away from home and why Hibernation Station means so much more to us than simply owning a cabin.
We’ve filled it with the things our family loves and created spaces to play, relax, reconnect and just be together. And when we’re not there, we get to share this little piece of the mountains with other families, friends and four-legged family members too. ❤️
So when you stay at Hibernation Station, you’re staying somewhere that is very much loved, lived in and cared for by our family.
We hope you feel a little of what we feel every time we arrive:
Take a deep breath. Slow down. You’re in the mountains now. 🏔️
