Sometimes it is fun to be a tourist in your own city and try something new! Fabulous date night last night at Altiuspgh (highly recommend - just look at the presentation on these dishes which were just as delicious as they were a work of art, not to mention the views!) and then fun exploring Mount Washington. I love Pittsburgh so much and am looking forward to bringing more people here to my neck of the woods in the future!

You ARE expected to learn on our tours. 😬📚

But don’t worry, I promise I’m not bringing back my teacher grade book.

I want you to come home with great pictures, absolutely. However, I also want you to come home knowing something you didn’t know before.

What’s something you’ve learned while traveling that has stuck with you?

I know that's not everyone's priority, and that's okay.

But if I have the choice between a newer car sitting in my driveway or another unforgettable adventure, I'm choosing the adventure almost every time.

In fact, I'm still driving my 2017 vehicle with well over 125,000 miles on it.

Could I replace it? Sure.

But every time I think about it, I start thinking about the places I could go instead. The people I could meet. The stories I'd come home with. Those memories are worth far more to me than having the latest model parked outside.

Cars get older.

Phones become outdated.

The "new" eventually becomes "old."

But I have never once looked back at a meaningful trip and thought, "I wish I hadn't spent the money on that."

The memories, the friendships, the moments of awe, and the perspective I've gained have stayed with me long after I unpacked my suitcase.

For me, experiences have always been a better investment than things.

What about you? If someone handed you $10,000 today, would you spend it on a new vehicle, a home project... or the trip of a lifetime?

As I mentioned yesterday, a great guide can completely change the way you see a country.

We love connecting people, so we were able to get our tour guide for Egypt, Sameh Tarabay to experience our Istanbul tour with Serif Yenen Travel - Kültür Gezileri! Good times and great memories! We will be touring with both of these awesome men in 2027!

A great guide can completely change the way you see a country! Meet Serif Yenen Travel - Kültür Gezileri, our guide for Istanbul and Turkey. We have been working with him for over 7 years now and to say we are blessed is an understatement. I’ll let you Google him yourself if you want to find out more and of course IYKYK!! 🙂 Traveling with him is like traveling with a celebrity. We get to watch him get stopped by many younger guides in all parts of Turkey wanting their picture with him and talking about his books that have helped them become better guides. Excited to have both Istanbul and Turkey on our 2027 fall schedules again!

Not every person is right for every tour, and not every tour is right for every person. And that’s a GOOD thing.

The goal isn’t to travel with everyone. It’s to find the people, places, and experiences that are the right fit for YOU.

When the fit is right, that’s when the magic happens. ❤️🌎

This is one of the biggest lessons travel has taught me.

If you only watched the news, you'd probably think the world is a frightening place full of people waiting to take advantage of you. Fear gets attention. Hate gets attention. Division gets attention. Headlines about kindness usually don't.

After visiting plenty of countries, what I've found is something very different.

I've seen strangers help lost travelers find their way home. I've watched children invite visitors into their soccer games without speaking the same language. I've had people insist on sharing a meal, offering directions, or going far out of their way simply because they wanted to help.

Does bad stuff happen? Of course. It happens at home, too. Being aware and making smart decisions is important wherever you are.

But I refuse to believe fear is the whole story.

In my experience, the vast majority of people, no matter where they live, simply want the same things we do. They want to care for their families, welcome guests, laugh with friends, and be treated with kindness and respect.

Travel has made me less afraid of the world and more hopeful about it.

Has travel changed the way you see people? I'd love to hear where you've experienced unexpected kindness.
