Today was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love travel so much.

We spent an absolutely incredible day in the countryside of Calabria visiting KALAB Kalabrian Agriculture Laboratories, a beautiful farm run by one of the most kind, welcoming, and genuinely wonderful families you could ever hope to meet. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed not as tourists, but as friends. We learned so much about local traditions, food, farming, and life here in Calabria, all while sharing stories, laughter, and meaningful conversations around the table. It truly felt like spending the day among family.

Experiences like this are what make travel so special to me. Not just seeing a place, but connecting with the people who make it what it is.

As if the day could not get any better, we ended the evening by the sea with a beautiful beach visit followed by a fascinating cedro tasting experience with an incredible local man creating the most delicious dishes featuring this unique fruit.

Did you know the cedro fruit is actually a symbol of Calabria? It grows in only a handful of places in the world, making it something truly special to this region.

Calabria continues to steal my heart more and more each day. The beauty here is undeniable, but it is the warmth of the people and these authentic experiences that make it unforgettable. ❤️🇮🇹

There are some places in the world that quietly leave a mark on you, and for me, Guernsey has become one of them.

Over the past few days, I have found myself deeply moved exploring sites connected to the German occupation of Guernsey during World War II. It is difficult to stand in such a peaceful, beautiful place and truly imagine what life must have felt like when islanders were given only a day’s notice to make an impossible decision: evacuate or stay. And for many, leaving was not even an option.

Families were separated. Children were sent away without their parents. Lives changed overnight.

One of the most impactful experiences was visiting the German Occupation Museum, which was absolutely incredible. You can feel the passion behind it. The owner has clearly dedicated his life to preserving this important history and ensuring these stories are never forgotten. It was one of those museums that stays with you long after you leave.

I was also so grateful to spend time with Amanda Johns of Tours of Guernsey, whose own fascinating family stories brought the island’s history to life in such a personal and meaningful way.

Guernsey may not be a place everyone has heard of like London or Paris, but my goodness, the depth of history, resilience, and humanity here is extraordinary.

I am forever grateful for this experience and while currently waiting on my plane to leave, I’m already find myself looking forward to coming back and bringing others to discover just how fascinating this little island truly is.

While today may have been a little bit chilly and windy with occasional rain, we had a fantastic day with Amanda, owner of Tours of Guernsey! Many of you know this has been a bucket list destination for me for many years and it did not disappoint. As seeing so many sites and museums related to the history of the occupation was very moving, I will do a separate post about that tomorrow. For now, enjoy some of the beauty we saw today! I can’t wait to come back and show this place to others!

Greetings from the beautiful island of Guernsey!
