Before you hit the road this fall, give your bike a quick safety check to make sure it is ready for cooler temperatures, changing weather, and longer rides.
Pre-Ride Checklist:
Check the tires – Inspect for proper air pressure, wear, cracks, or damage.
Test the brakes – Make sure the brake pads have plenty of life and stop smoothly.
Clean and lubricate the chain – A clean, properly lubricated drivetrain helps ensure a smoother ride.
Check the gears – Shift through all gears and make sure everything changes smoothly.
Test your lights – Make sure front and rear lights are working, especially with shorter fall days.
Inspect bolts and accessories – Check that your seat, handlebars, racks, bottles, and other gear are secure.
Pack your repair essentials – Bring a spare tube, tire levers, pump, multi-tool, and anything else you may need on the trail.
Prepare for changing weather – Pack layers, rain protection, and other essentials for cooler temperatures.
A few minutes of preparation can make your fall tour safer, smoother, and much more enjoyable!
