The City of Donna Job Fair was a huge success with over 250 jobseekers in attendance! 🙌

We appreciate the jobseekers who came ready to connect with employers, took advantage of our Laptop Station to polish résumés or submit applications, and the employers who showed up with real opportunities. Together, you turned this event into a meaningful step toward stronger careers and a stronger community. 💼✨

Today, we had the honor of attending the Texas Workforce Commission’s Check Presentation Ceremony at Texas Southmost College, where Commissioner Representing Labor Alberto Treviño III awarded five Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants to schools across the Rio Grande Valley.

These grants, totaling over $1.1 million, will provide students with hands-on training and equipment to prepare for high-demand careers in healthcare and skilled trades. Congratulations to all the recipients:

✅ Edinburg ISD – $350,000 to train 505 students as licensed practical and vocational nurses
✅ Roma ISD – $216,226 to train 100 students as licensed practical and vocational nurses
✅ South Texas ISD – $215,184 to train 50 students as medical assistants
✅ Texas Southmost College – $84,614 to train 30 students as welders
✅ Weslaco ISD – $308,490 to train 1,455 students as nursing assistants

We congratulate each recipient and look forward to seeing the impact these programs will have on students and our region’s workforce. Investments like these strengthen the pipeline of skilled talent and open doors of opportunity for future generations.
