I'm slowly putting my summer travel plans together. I am moving into my new apartment on August 1, so that little adventure, while not officially traveling, starts off my planning. Then, I am flying to Salt Lake City on August 17 to visit my daughter and her family for two weeks while my son is visiting from Germany. We will be driving to Yellowstone Park that first week - staying in an AirBnB in Jackson Hole. The second week of the visit we are flying to Las Vegas for a couple days to see a show at the Sphere (and maybe throw a quarter or three in a slot machine). My Arizona family is meeting us in Vegas, and I will drive home with them the end of August. It's only two weeks, but we will pack a lot into that time!

The pile of boxes keeps getting higher! I had no idea I could put so much stuff into a one- bedroom apartment! I still have to pack the kitchen! So today I called the truck rental place (Penske) and upgraded to the 22 foot van. 🚐 this move is getting serious! 11 days until I pick up the truck!

My Fall, 2023 Travel Adventures start this week! I’m headed to Centralia, Washington to spend time with my granddaughter, Trinity. We’re going shopping for wedding attire-she’s a Bridesmaid and I’m the “flower grandma” in her sister, Ciera’s wedding in October. Then a day on the beach is on the schedule. It may or may not involve mimosas or margaritas now that Trinity is 21!

Time to travel!

My fall travel season is in the bag! I start with a weekend trip to Centralia, Washington in August to visit my granddaughter, Trinity, then to Park City, Utah in September for a weekend visit with my daughter, Roni. Then it’s almost three weeks in Arizona in October to visit friends and participate in my granddaughter, Ciera’s wedding! I’m the flower grandmother! WooHoo!

I’m going to Centralia, Washington in August! Going to spend several days with my granddaughter, Trinity. Can’t wait!

My next trip is in the works. Just another short jaunt to Austin, TX. This will be the third time this year I’ll make the 7 hour round trip to Texas’ capital city.

I’ll be attending the Planned Parenthood Beyond Roe: The Fight for our Future event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Wendy Davis' legendary filibuster and the one year anniversary of the Dobbs decision.

The event is June 25, 2023, at 2:00pm at
The Cathedral, 2403 E 16th St, Austin, TX 78702.

Flight to Miami at 5:00am tomorrow canceled. I have a connecting flight to Dominica at 10:40 tomorrow. I’m betting they won’t be able to rebook me to get there in time. So. I’m on hold with the airline, trying to figure out what to do.

My trip to the Caribbean is off to a crawling start! I leave my car at my granddaughter Darrah’s when I fly out of DFW and since the weather folks keep threatening icy roads and terrible driving conditions, I came to Grapevine a day early. The normally 30 minute took nearly an hour and a half yesterday. I passed (slowly) 6 wrecks on the freeway on the way over. The weather guys weren’t kidding! So, now I get an extra day with the grands and great grands! So far my flight early tomorrow morning is on schedule. It’s 27 degrees in Grapevine and 76 in Dominica. I’m heading to the sunshine and the beach!

Spent the day at the Texas State Capital checking out the activity on the first day of the new legislative session. Had a tour of the building. It’s 130 years old and has an interesting history. Here’s a few pictures

January trip: one day bus excursion to Austin, TX to visit the capital and support the newly elected Democratic leaders in the swearing in.

February trip: 12 days on a tropical island in the Caribbean. Dominica, here I come!

March trip: nothing firm yet, but a possible Spring trip to Park City, Utah to see my daughter’s new house. Late March, maybe April.

Thinking about the rest of the year. Don’t have any travel plans yet, but that could change! Stay tuned!
