Can I tell you the one thing that separates a magical Disney World vacation from an exhausting one? 🏰

White space.

I know that sounds counterintuitive. You saved up for this trip. You flew across the country. You want to do ALL of it. And I completely understand that feeling.

But here is what I have watched happen over and over again with families who try to pack every single minute: by Day 3, nobody is having fun anymore. The kids are melting down. The adults are running on caffeine and willpower. And everyone is too tired to actually enjoy the thing they planned for months.

So here is how I actually build a Disney World itinerary. I leave room to breathe.

An arrival day that is just about settling in, maybe a relaxed dinner at Disney Springs. Nothing more.

A park morning that ends at 2pm so everyone can come back and actually rest.

A day in the middle of the trip with zero park plans. Sleep in. Sit by the pool with a frozen drink. Wander around the resort. 🍹

And here is the thing my clients always tell me when they get home... they remember the pool day. They remember the afternoon they wandered around the resort and stumbled onto something beautiful. They did not see everything but they genuinely enjoyed everything they did see.

Disney World is not a checklist. It is a vacation. Let me help you plan it like one. 💙

I'm not just a Disney travel advisor who plans grandparent trips. I AM the grandparent on the Disney trip. 👵🏻✨

And let me tell you... that changes everything about how I plan these vacations for my clients.

My grandkids had me chasing them through Magic Kingdom until my feet gave out and I would not change a single second of it!

Here is what I know from being both the advisor AND the grandparent in the room: grandparent trips to Walt Disney World need to be built differently. Not because grandparents can not keep up. But because the goal is different. You are not trying to conquer the park. You are trying to be fully PRESENT for the moments that matter, and that requires a different kind of planning.

The things I pay attention to that most people skip right over:

Room configuration. A standard resort room with everyone sharing one space sounds fine until it is 2pm and the little ones need quiet time and you need to sit down and breathe for 20 minutes. A suite with a separate bedroom changes the entire energy of the trip.

Pacing. I almost always build in a resort day for grandparent trips. A morning at the pool, lunch at the resort, maybe a trip to Disney Springs in the afternoon. No park. No plan. Just easy. Those days end up being some of the sweetest memories of the whole trip.

Realistic expectations. Four park days back to back is a lot for anyone. For a grandparent trying to match the energy of a 6 year old? That is a recipe for exhaustion instead of magic.

If you are a grandparent dreaming about taking your grandkids to Disney World, I would love to help you plan it the right way. These trips are so incredibly special when they are built with intention. 💙

Can we talk about one of the most overlooked parts of planning a Walt Disney World vacation? 🏰

Everyone falls in love with a resort based on photos. And honestly, that makes total sense because look at Caribbean Beach Resort. It is GORGEOUS. The colors, the waterway, the tropical vibes... it photographs beautifully and it feels like a true escape the moment you arrive. 🌴

But here is something I walk every single client through before we finalize their resort choice: theming and location are two very different things, and both matter.

A resort can be stunning and also have you adding 15 to 20 extra minutes to the start and end of every single park day depending on where your room building sits. When you have little ones who are already running on fumes by 8pm, those extra minutes feel a lot longer than they look on a map.

Part of what I do when I am building your quote is think through the full picture. Not just "is this resort beautiful" (and Caribbean Beach absolutely is) but also "how does this resort work FOR this specific family on a real park day." Sometimes those answers point to the same resort. Sometimes they surprise people.

That conversation is completely free and it could be the difference between a vacation that looks perfect on paper and one that actually feels perfect in real life.

When families start researching Walt Disney World resorts, most focus on one thing first:

Value, Moderate, or Deluxe?

But after helping families plan Disney vacations for years, I've found there's often a more important question:

Where do you actually want to be?

The right location can save time, simplify transportation, make midday breaks easier, and completely change how your vacation feels.

Sometimes the "best" resort isn't about the category at all.

This week I'm taking a deeper look at why resort location may matter even more than resort category when choosing where to stay at Walt Disney World.

The reality is that the best Disney resort is not always the most expensive one. It is the resort that fits the way your family plans to vacation.

Everyone wants to know the "right" way to use Lightning Lanes at Disney World. 🏰

And honestly? There isn't one.

What I've learned after helping hundreds of families plan their Disney World vacations is that the best days have nothing to do with how many Lightning Lanes you grabbed before 9am. They have everything to do with knowing YOUR family.

The family that needs to be first through the gate for Tiana's Bayou Adventure and then take it slow the rest of the day? That's a plan. The family that skips the headliner rides entirely because their kids are obsessed with meeting every princess? That's also a plan. The grandparents who want to ride the carousel three times and spend an hour in the gift shop? Perfect plan. 🎠

Lightning Lane is a tool and like any tool, it works best when it fits the job. My job is figuring out what YOUR family actually needs and building a trip around that, not around what the Disney forums say you're supposed to do.

If you're staring at the Lightning Lane options feeling overwhelmed, let's talk. I'll help you cut through all of it and focus on what actually matters... the moments your family will remember forever. 💙

If I had a dollar for every family that told me they were skipping EPCOT because "there's nothing for young kids there," I would have a lot of dollars. 😄

My response is always the same. Do your kids like Frozen? Finding Nemo? Ratatouille?

Of course they do.

Here is what EPCOT actually has for families with young children, from someone who has planned hundreds of Walt Disney World trips:

🐭 Remy's Ratatouille Adventure is one of the most charming rides in all of Walt Disney World. Gentle enough for toddlers, clever enough that adults are genuinely delighted. The theming is extraordinary and the line moves well.

❄️ Frozen Ever After sits in the Norway pavilion and consistently has shorter waits than the princess experiences at Magic Kingdom while delivering just as much magic. The ride photo from this post? The whole boat had a blast from the littles in the front to Steph and I in the back!

🐠 The Seas with Nemo and Friends lets kids ride through an aquarium and then spend as long as they want watching real sea turtles, manatees, dolphins, and fish through massive tanks. I have had families tell me their kids wanted to stay there for an hour.

And then there is World Showcase, which parents assume will bore their kids into a meltdown. What actually happens? The street performers in France stop kids in their tracks. The koi fish in Japan become a 20-minute adventure. The Norway pavilion has an entire shop that feels like a storybook. And the Kidcot passport, where kids collect stamps from every country, turns the whole experience into a mission.

One mom told me her four-year-old talked more about the 360-degree theater film in Canada than about meeting Mickey Mouse the whole trip. EPCOT just works differently than people expect.

There is also something else EPCOT offers that Magic Kingdom simply cannot: room to breathe. Wide pathways where strollers are not a battle. Space to actually walk and explore without being shoulder to shoulder with the whole world.

EPCOT is not "not for kids." It is just for kids whose parents give it a real chance.

I am going to give you my honest advisor take on Monorail resorts at Walt Disney World, because I think a lot of people book them for the wrong reasons and a lot of people talk themselves out of them when they should actually go for it. 🚝

The Contemporary, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian are stunning. The Monorail access is genuinely magical. And I have redirected plenty of clients away from all three even when they could absolutely afford them.

Here is how I think about it:

✅ A Monorail resort IS worth it for you if:
You plan to spend the majority of your trip at Magic Kingdom. You have young children who need to pop back to the room mid-day for naps or a reset, and the idea of a 45-minute bus ride with an overtired toddler sounds like a nightmare. You want the experience of watching Magic Kingdom fireworks from your balcony or from the resort itself. Transportation stress is real for your family and eliminating it is worth paying for. For those families, Monorail access is not a luxury. It is a sanity saver.

❌ A Monorail resort is NOT the right splurge if:
You are mostly park hopping to Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom…where the Monorail does not take you. You are the rope-drop-to-close type who rarely leaves the parks mid-day. Or your budget is stretched to afford the Monorail resort, which means that $2,000 or more in difference could go toward Memory Maker, special dining experiences, or an extra park day.

Here is what I recommend instead for budget-conscious families who still want great transportation: the Skyliner resorts. Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century, and Art of Animation all connect to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios with a gorgeous gondola system at a fraction of the Monorail resort price. The transportation is just as convenient for those parks, and the rooms are great.

The Monorail is magical. It is just not the right splurge for every family. That conversation is exactly what I am here for.

Can I tell you about a conversation that completely changed how one family experienced Walt Disney World? 🏰

A family reached out to me excited about a deal they had found at a value resort. Three kids under 7, budget-conscious, ready to book. On paper it made total sense.

Then I asked them a few questions I always ask before I recommend any Disney World resort. Walk me through a typical day at home. Are your kids early risers or night owls? Do they still nap? How do you feel about long bus rides when everyone is exhausted and it is 90 degrees outside?

And that is where everything shifted.

Their kids crashed hard by 2 PM every single day. They needed real downtime in a quiet space, not a bus ride back from Magic Kingdom with three overtired toddlers. They also planned to park hop almost every day, which meant transportation speed and convenience were going to matter more than they had thought.

I steered them toward a moderate resort on the Skyliner instead. Yes, more upfront. But here is what that actually bought them: faster transportation when the meltdowns hit, a comfortable room with real breathing space during afternoon resets, and a pool they would actually have the energy to enjoy.

The dad messaged me midway through their trip. He said that afternoon nap routine in their room saved the entire vacation. Not an exaggeration. They would have been miserable at the value resort, not because it is a bad resort, but because it was not the right resort for how their family actually functions.

That is the conversation I have with every single client before I recommend a category. The best deal is not always the lowest price. It is the resort that fits the way YOUR family vacations.

What matters most to you when choosing a Disney World resort? Location, room size, transportation, pool, or something else entirely? Tell me below and I will tell you where I would put you. 👇

Concierge on Disney Cruise Line is not just a stateroom category. It is a completely different way of experiencing a sailing, and honestly, it is a different way of planning one too. ✨

Here is what the journey looks like when you book Disney Cruise Line Concierge with me:

It starts with a real conversation.
Not just dates and budget. I want to know your actual vision for this sailing. Is this a milestone birthday? An anniversary? A first cruise for your kids? Are there specific restaurants you are dreaming about, experiences you want to make sure happen, dietary needs or preferences I should have on file? We cover all of it before anything is booked.

Once you are booked, I am working behind the scenes.
I coordinate with Disney's concierge team on your behalf to secure priority reservations at Palo or Remy, arrange any special celebrations, make sure your preferences are documented, and connect every detail so nothing falls through the cracks before you ever step onboard.

In the weeks leading up to your sailing, I am still here.
Checking in, answering questions, helping with pre-cruise logistics like flights and hotels, and making sure everything is buttoned up so you board with zero stress.

Then onboard, the Disney concierge team takes over.
Priority boarding. Private sun deck access. Evening receptions with snacks and premium drinks. Priority booking for Port Adventures. Plush robes and luxury amenities waiting in your stateroom. A dedicated team available around the clock for anything you need.

That is the full picture. From the first message you send me to the moment you are home with memories you will talk about for years.

And if you want to experience that level of magic alongside a group of incredible people, I have something special to share. 🖤

Our 3rd Annual Fairytale Journeys Group Sailing is June 10-14, 2027 aboard the Disney Destiny. 4 nights from Fort Lauderdale visiting Nassau, Castaway Cay, and a day at sea. Co-hosted by me and a few of my Fairytale Journeys colleague Pricing starts at $4,604 per stateroom, and Concierge categories are available for the full elevated experience.

This is the sailing I look forward to all year. Come join us.

“Is a verandah stateroom really worth the extra cost?”

And honestly? The answer depends completely on how your family vacations.

For some families, that private balcony becomes one of their favorite parts of the cruise. For others, an oceanview or inside stateroom may make more sense so they can spend that budget elsewhere during the trip.

In my newest blog post for The Disney & Cruise Vacation Insiders, I break down:
• When a verandah is worth it
• When it may not be necessary
• How sailing length changes the value
• Why room location matters
• What I personally recommend for families

If you are planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation and trying to decide which stateroom category is best for your family, this guide will help make the decision much easier.

Wondering if a Disney Cruise verandah is worth the upgrade? Here’s how to decide based on your family, itinerary, budget, and travel style.
