Do not disturb ๐Ÿคš

I'm busy exploring markets, buying fresh ingredients, and eating farm-to-table (literally) ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿฅญ๐Ÿซ‘

You see... In South America, we take our food very seriously and buying fresh ingredients is more than just a weekend activity, we do it daily.

Here are some of our favorite city markets to explore:

- Bogota, Colombia: Mercado Paloquemao

- Buenos Aires, Argentina: Mercado San Telmo (weekends are the best as they come alive with live milonga and tango shows)

- Quito, Ecuador: Mercado Central & Mercado Iรฑaquito

And while most things are not edible, unless you consider potions for love and fertility, we make an honorable mention to:

- La Paz, Bolivia: Mercado de Brujas (an unusual market perfect for conjuring magic spells and ceremonies. Selling charms, magic potions, and even trinkets for witches and wizards).

Easter: Bunnies, decorated eggs, and brunch? ๐Ÿฐ

Think again! In Ecuador's capital, Quito's easter celebrations involves solemn parades, elaborate garments, and cultural traditions that date back hundreds of years.

But let's not forget, before the catholic celebrations, indigenous communities celebrated Mushuc Nina (New Fire Day) to commemorate the equinox solstice๐Ÿ”ฅ

Fanesca is a traditional Easter dish that represents this syncretism: tender Andean grains of the first harvests combined with Spanish grains, cured fish, and sweet plantain. More than 14 ingredients to make this elaborate recipe.

Our favorite spots to eat Fanesca in the city of Quito: Mercado Central, Hasta La Vuelta Seรฑor, & Hansel & Gretel. Three spots, three delicious takes on this traditional dish.

Comment below if you've ever tried Fanesca! โœ
