Hot take from cruise people…
When we asked, “If you could BAN one thing from cruise ships, it would be ______,” the comment section absolutely took off.
And honestly… some of these answers had people fully united, while others turned into full-on debates.
One of the biggest responses by far was kids in the hot tubs.
A lot of people said hot tubs are supposed to be relaxing, that age rules are often posted, and that those rules are rarely enforced.
But that answer brought pushback too.
Some people basically said, if kids in hot tubs bother you that much, book the adults-only area or choose an adults-only cruise line.
Then came the smoking debate.
Some people said smoking and loud behavior ruin the vibe fast.
Others said the real thing they would ban is the nonstop complaining about smokers, arguing that there are designated areas and people should focus on enjoying their own vacation.
And of course, we cannot ignore the outrage over saving lounge chairs.
That one clearly hit a nerve.
A lot of you said if you are not actually sitting in the chair, it should not be “saved” with a towel, flip flops, or a random bag for hours.
That felt like one of the few things almost everyone could agree on.
Another major topic was drink packages.
A lot of people said cruise lines need better options for people who only want one or two drinks, especially when one spouse drinks and the other does not.
We also saw some funny but very real frustration about mandatory disembarkation day, plus a few honorable mentions like people not washing their hands, bathrobes in public spaces, and people who spend the whole cruise complaining.
So now we have to ask again…
What else would you add? Did we miss anything?
If you could ban one thing from cruise ships forever, what would it be — and why?
