Lauren and Stan are dreamers. They are also newlyweds - and good family friends. They spent months planning their dream honeymoon to Hawaii (yours truly had the honor of playing a small part in its planning). It was going to be one heck of a trip - except the morning they were due to depart JFK a Category 5 Hurricane warning was issued for the exact island they were headed.
Let's rewind a bit - the night before they were due to leave (still before the official warning/watch) it was clear Hawaii was in Hurricane Lane's path, so I sent them an email, "let me know what you are thinking and how I can help." At 4:45am PST, an hour before they were due to leave for JFK, I told them going to Hawaii would not be a wise choice. "We agree," they said, "so what should we do?" After a quick conversation, I said, "give me 15 minutes, I'll find you a new honeymoon."
1.5 hours later - tickets and hotels were booked - they would depart later that evening for Santorini and Mykonos. Not even a day lost!
Worst case scenarios like this are why you should always use a knowledgeable, readily available, travel professional for your vacation needs (and remember, it costs you, the traveler, nothing for my services, but the dividends are tenfold). It's the height of tourist season in Greece - pickings were slim - but we found two fantastic resorts at prices that don't break the bank. Honeymoon saved - dare I even say upgraded judging by Lauren's Instagram post!
Here's wishing the newlyweds a honeymoon filled with sun, relaxation, and tranquility and everyone in Hawaii safety and godspeed - we're all hoping your islands get some sun real soon too.
Feel free to email me at [email protected] for any of your travel needs - I would be happy to assist.
