Southern Europe in late summer can be…. sweltering, suffice it to say. While it might not always be the most enjoyable temperature, I’m a big believer that you can still have a great trip as long as you’re packed appropriately, hydrate sufficiently, and have a plan that accounts for the heat (and maybe a hotel with a pool, too).

I’ve been waiting to plan leaf peeping trips all summer! Looking for inspo? Here are some of my favorites:
🍁 Japan ~ people normally think of Japan for cherry blossoms in the spring, but this island nation also offers incredible colors in the fall
🍂 Napa, CA ~ Most people want to head to New England for fall colors (and for good reason!) but Autumn brings about cooler temps and grape harvesting season in Napa Valley, so travelers can get the whole winemaking experience in one gorgeous location
🍁 Iceland ~ There aren’t a ton of trees on the island, but their birches turn brilliant shades of yellow and the abundant brush that covers the ground becomes a brilliantly colorful carpet
🍂 Asheville, NC ~ The Appalachian Mountains set the beautiful backdrop for a charming trip to this foodie paradise

Puerto Rico is in crisis, and the matter is not getting the attention it deserves. Many problems in the world seem far away, but the reality is that hundreds of thousands of our fellow American citizens are facing a water crisis. As tourists, it’s incredibly important to be mindful of the resources we use when visiting places that may not have the infrastructure we’re accustomed to. This is also a great reminder that travel insurance can protect your plans from unknown situations that you may never have imagined.
