Knowing the origins of Mother’s Day changes how I see it. It doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate all the things Mothers do, but it does mean those who have lost mothers, don’t have mothers who can be a good mother right now, or mothers who have lost children have a place today as well.

Go for a walk, grab a mimosa with a friend, post about your mother or children because today is for you too.

If you’re in the dead mom club, dead dad club, or just feel like writing about your experiences in general, you should come to the VCFA writers’ conference. Turn that trauma into gold (I’m kiddddding….Sort of.)

Back on campus for residency but this time as a graduate assistant. I just can’t stay away.

My experience at VCFA is now a part of my core. It’s in my writing, in how I interact with the world—my confidence and stride.

Brié the writer doesn’t exist without this community. I wouldn’t want to.

There’s a lot going on in our world right now. I think the best thing you can do is to find your community. Forever grateful for mine 💙

Loud. Bright. Strong. Kind. Undeniably yourself. Too much for even your own family. Mom, what a legacy you left.

I missed out on having you as a mother, that’s for sure.

I think about all you would have taught me and try it on for size. Sometimes I even keep those traits. Loudness, kindness, wildness.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Loud, bright, and badass women I know. You make the world a better place for us all. Love you ❤️

Remi and Jax are beyond ecstatic that their dog dad is on his second week as a full-time photographer. Now he has more time for morning trail runs, snuggles, and treats.

I’m super proud of Shawn for believing in himself! Missoula friends, if you need headshots, branding photos, wedding or family photos, Shawn is your guy!

Now that the dogs are sleeping from their park adventure with dad today, I guess that means I have to go write!!

It’s 1000 degrees outside, which means I’m inside hiding until it’s appropriate. So let’s pretend it’s an appropriate temperature and my sweet family and I are out playing in the sprinklers 😜.
