What to do on a day off? Get up at 0300 drive across the Kenai Peninsula, get on a charter boat, go across Cook Inlet and dig razor clams. Will be eating good this winter.

The UT group filled the cart! Glad I had Casey deckhanding and Cody cleaning fish! Black Cod, Rock Fish, Gray Cod and Halibut!

Well the island produced a pair of twins about 20 minutes apart. These two WY groups are going to be eating well this winter.

The Northern Ohio group came and we found some fish to go along with the rainy cool weather. Cousin Buck caught the biggest fish each day! He landed a 50lbs halbut on the salmon rod to go along with some nice black and gray cod, king salmon,rockfish and polick. He helped me catch a lot of fish as a youngester and I used his right handed bolt action single shot .410 for many years to chase squirrels and rabbits. As a lefty, I got pretty good with one shot as the backup shot took awhile to chamber.

Cool finds and neat fish from yesterday’s trip! We have been having some strong storms this spring. Lots of logs and floating stuff in the water. We found Chinese floats and a rock greenling fish.

The weather outside the bay was bad yesterday, but we found a spot inside and caught some cod and halibut. Best part was no one from for the group from AZ got sea sick!

Did a little post college graduation fishing with Casey in MT. He is now a certified welder and is taking an additional tig welding course this summer. He caught a tagged cutthroat trout and is now in for some nice prizes. We got brown, rainbow, cutthroat trout and mountain whitefish on the fly!

I get asked often how do you tell the difference between a Yelloweye rockfish and a short raker rockfish. On the photo with the fish on the deck, the Short Raker is on the left. They are more of a red color, and have a more white under color. Eye color is alao different. Both fish were caught in the same area, about two minutes apart in a little over 800’ water.
