You will NOT believe this is in . 😳🐟

We took our kids on a paddle board adventure to see something I had no idea was happening right here in our own backyard… a salmon run. 🐟🌊

And the best part? You don’t need to be some hardcore outdoorsy family to do it.

🏄‍♀️ Fairly easy paddle — about 40–60 minutes, depending on how fast your kids are
🥾 Quick walk up the river
🐟 And then… SALMON swimming upstream right in front of you.

I kept thinking, how have we lived in Utah this long and never done this?! 🤯

Early September is the BEST time to go, so if you’re seeing this right now… consider this your sign. 👀🍂

Want to take your kids?

Follow me + comment “SALMON” 🐟 and I’ll send you the details!

Would you sleep on your paddle board??

My husband thought I’d hate sleeping on my paddle board at horseshoe bend.

He was wrong, and he’s about to do it with me next year (he doesn’t know it yet though!) 😂

Reach out to me if you are wanting to do this and have any questions! It was such a blast.

If it brings you joy, peace, comfort, purpose, or inspiration; then it’s not a waste of money, time, or energy.

Don’t forget your need to fill your own cup. That’s the only way to give the best version of yourself to your family and friends.

What are some things that fill your cup that you need more of? Do something about it this weekend!

There’s something so powerful about letting our kids do hard things.

Not because we want life to be harder for them, but because we know we can’t always make life easier for them.

Someday, life will ask them to do things that scare them. Things that feel uncomfortable. Things they don’t know if they’re capable of doing.

And I want my kids to have the confidence to say, “I’ve done hard things before. I can do this too.”

Whether it’s climbing a mountain, trying something that scares them, failing and trying again, or simply pushing through when they want to quit—every hard thing becomes evidence.

Evidence that they are stronger than they thought.
Evidence that discomfort doesn’t mean they should stop.
Evidence that they are capable.

We don’t prepare our kids for life by removing every obstacle.

Sometimes, we prepare them by standing beside them while they face one. ❤️

I’ll never understand why we’re told to wait until our kids are older to travel.

Yes, traveling with kids can be messier. It can be louder. Someone will probably complain about being hungry 12 minutes into the road trip. 😂

But they’re also seeing the world with you.

They’re learning that adventure is worth being uncomfortable for. They’re trying new foods, seeing places they’ve only read about, meeting people different from them, and collecting memories that become part of who they are.

And honestly? I don’t want to travel without them.

I don’t want the perfectly relaxing version of travel if it means missing the magic of watching them experience it.

The tired kids, the unexpected detours, the “WOW, look at that!” moments, the inside jokes we’ll still be laughing about years from now…

I wouldn’t trade any of it. ❤️🌎

Traveling with kids isn’t always easy—but I think it makes the journey so much more meaningful.

If there’s one unspoken rule of hiking, it’s this: please leave the Bluetooth speaker at home. 😂 Anyone else feel this way??

We didn’t hike all the way out into nature to listen to your playlist—we came to hear the wind, the birds, the water, and our kids complaining about how much longer the hike is. 😂

Headphones exist for a reason. 🎧🌲

Let nature have the aux.
