Fun fact: Hawaii

Fun traveling facts: Hawaii 🍍🍍

The Mokulua Islands are two small island located off the eastern coast of Oahu. The two islands are named Moku Nui (meaning "big island" in Hawaiian) and Moku Iki (meaning "small island" in Hawaiian).

The Mokulea Islands hold great cultural significance in ancient Hawaiian history.
They were not heavily populated but were revered for their spiritual and ecological importance. They were considered sacred and served as important navigational points for Polynesian voyagers and were believed to be the guardians of the nearby Kaneohe Bay.

Today, the Mokulua Islands remain an essential part of Hawaii’s cultural identity. Their preservation and protection are considered vital in preserving the cultural heritage of the region. Moku Nui, the larger of the two islands, is open to the public while Moku Iki is off-limits to preserve the natural habitat for the native seabirds that nest there.

Respecting the land, its history, and the protocols associated with these sacred sites is crucial to maintaining the cultural heritage of the islands for future generations 🙏🌺
