Iowa was good to us again. Four birds in two days with some great video footage as well. First day were two classic hunts. James was up first and got the job done quickly. Worked perfectly off the limb and was flopping by 6:10am. Shortly after that we chased four long beards and ended up bumping them. Climbed a hill and struck a bird in the holler at 7:37 am. He came in on a rope and Rob harvested him at 7:42. That’s right 5 minutes!! The wind was rocking 20-30 mph, but we stayed with it and located a few more visually. Next morning we were waiting near a field edge were we saw the four birds the day before, however they did not show up. Made a move on two birds across a valley but they would not cooperate. Run & Gun for the next several hours glassing fields and setting up on a few birds to no avail. After a quick lunch we found three birds in a field and made a move on them. Glad I had TSS(Robbie’s) loaded as a long shot was the only option, but the shot was on point and the gobbler fell instantly. Just 30-40 min later we found 3 more gobblers and made a move. At 72 years young Gary made every step we did, leading the way most of the time, and harvested his bird at 3:45 pm. Amazing trip once again! 2024 turkey season is a wrap, can’t wait for 2025.
