It’s that time again!

Once a month, the tides, weather patterns, and conditions line up to reveal larger sections of the beach—areas that are normally only exposed for a short period of time. These are some of our favorite conditions of the year and often provide incredible opportunities for shark tooth hunters.

For July, the dates we highly recommend are July 10th through July 17th
July 23rd through July 30

If possible, we strongly encourage booking one of our early morning charters so you can beat the heat and enjoy the best conditions comfortably and safely.

All of the teeth pictured above were found during similar tide patterns to the ones we’ll be experiencing during this time frame. As you can see, the results can be absolutely amazing!

Of course, success always depends on the skill, experience, and persistence of the shark tooth hunter. If you’ve never been out to Charleston’s incredible dredge barrier island before, we highly recommend one of our guided excursions. Our experienced crew can help maximize your chances of finding some truly memorable treasures.

Availability during these dates will be limited, especially since July is one of our busiest months. We’ll be doing our best to schedule these excursions first thing in the morning to help keep everyone comfortable and safe during the summer heat.

We’re excited to announce something new for all of our amazing followers, loyal friends, and valued clients!

Starting this month, we will be reviewing tides, weather patterns, lunar cycles, beach conditions, and other factors that can affect shark tooth hunting. Based on those conditions, we will be highlighting our Featured Days of the Month—the days we believe offer some of the best opportunities for finding shark teeth and fossils.

Tomorrow, I’ll be posting our featured dates for the month of July.

These featured days will also focus on opportunities to hunt early in the morning, allowing us to beat the summer heat while taking advantage of the environmental conditions that often lead to exceptional hunting.

This is simply something I enjoy doing to help maximize your chances of finding that trophy tooth and having a highly successful excursion with us on Charleston’s popular Atlantic-facing dredge island.

While no one can ever guarantee what Mother Nature will reveal, years of experience have taught us that certain combinations of tides, weather, and seasonal patterns can create some truly incredible hunting conditions.

Everyone, help me congratulate Laura!

She’s been hunting shark teeth for quite a while, and earlier this week she decided to join us for one of our expeditions. Within just 10–20 minutes of stepping off the boat, she found the largest shark tooth she has ever discovered!

What makes this story so interesting is that there was nothing particularly unusual about the day. The weather patterns were normal, the tides were typical, and there weren’t any obvious signs that it would be an extraordinary hunt.

It just goes to show that when it comes to shark tooth hunting, you never really know which day is going to produce that perfect tooth. Sometimes the stars align when you least expect it, and persistence finally pays off.

Absolutely loving the seating configuration on the new boat. Notice how everyone is seated comfortably inside the boat rather than perched on the edges. It provides a much more comfortable, secure, and dry ride for our guests, making the trip out and back just as enjoyable as the time spent on the island. We’re excited about the upgrade and the improved experience it brings for everyone aboard!
