Some days, my job can be pretty tough. Spending a couple of hours eating chicken and drinking Champagne with Vivek Surti, Arnold Myint and Julio C Hernandez was not one of those days! I almost feel a little guilty getting paid to write this. (Almost.)

Publix’s fried chicken needs no introduction to its many fans down South, but how will it fare against Kroger's new and improved bird?

Of the 20,000 words I wrote last week, these are my favorites: "Consumers seem quite predisposed to act on limited-time offers, like the peripatetic McRib, the deadbeat dad of the fast food world that appears suddenly out of nowhere, sticks around for a little while making some people very happy and others disgusted and then abruptly disappears, leaving the kids bewildered and sad."

"The already stratospheric prices of cocktails at some luxury boutique hotel bars get hammered with additional fees including sales, alcohol, and hospitality taxes that lead drinkers to wonder if they ordered that Old Fashioned from Ticketmaster." I slay me sometimes...
