Their summer holidays on Alpine pastures are coming to an end, not only for cows also sheep, pigs and goats.
And today it was the turn of about 200 goats belonging to farmers in Mittenwald, Bavaria, to return from grazing below the Wetterstein, where they have spent about 100 days grazing on meadow grass and wildflowers. While helping preserve its unique landscape.
Der traditionelle Ziegenabtrieb (Goaรabtrieb) in Mittenwald ๐ฉ๐ช, and the most beautiful goat was awarded a prize after parading through the town.
For anyone in the area... next weekend it is Almabtrieb der Schafe, the return of the sheep, and on the 20th the "Almabtrieb der Rinder und Almfest". Bringing down the cattle and celebrating with an alpine festival.
