Victory Fishing

A lot late, but what would you expect from me? 🤣🤣 Blake and I fished hard last weekend in the Todd Willis Open, toddwillisopen during what felt like a cold tropical storm. We caught trout right off the bat, but you know the story, 12-13.5”. Then we were able to put a 15” trout in the live well and then an hour later, an 18 1/2” fish in live well. Feeling good at this point, that we could pull out four keepers. Then nothing close for a couple hours. Then we got a couple 14” trout, but released em because they would shrink in the live well. After catching another 20-30 trout I hooked up with a big girl, got her to the boat and dang it 20 1/2” trout, too big, so back to the drink she went. We would have had over six pounds with her and taken home a good check. Oh well, great week of fishing with my son and a solid 4th place finish. THANK YOU JESUS.

I went offshore fishing Friday to catch some dolphin and wahoo with my brother Doug and his buddies from the class of 79,, Allen, Eddie, Billy D and Billy W. Caught a dolphin and no wahoo, but this happened. I caught my first Billfish, a 70-80 lb Sailfish. I have hooked into 4 or 5 live batting for King Macks, but pulled the hook on them all. Glad to have that monkey off my back. THANK YOU JESUS and the boys of 79, especially Billy Douglas for the invite.

Blake and I made another scouting trip Wednesday and OH WHAT A DAY!!! 75+ trout and two surprise catches of Old Drum of 45 and 51 inches. We scratched out 4 keepers from 14-19”. Bait of choice was the Egret Baits 3.75” Vudu Shrimp under a Vudu cork. Sure we can repeat it on Saturday in the toddwillisopen!! Look forward to seeing everyone fishing, the challenge is real!! THANK YOU JESUS for time on the water with my son and blessing us mightily.

Blake and I did a little prefishing Monday for the toddwillisopen tournament this Saturday. Found a bunch of trout with maybe and I mean maybe two that barely made the 14” min. Tried out Egret Baits Mumbai Shrimp and it was money. The Lord did bless us with a beautiful Bald Eagle. Getting after it today as well, Lord Jesus, help us find some decent fish. THANK YOU JESUS for the tugs,
