"The question I confronted in Switzerland is similar to that confronted by any camera-toting visitor in a great landscape: Can my photograph convey an experience that others have already captured so well? The answer is almost always no, but you try anyway."

In travel photography, as in writing, there's no shortcut to finding your own voice.

"The hills are alive!
With the sound of colours,
The songs they have sung,
For a thousand years."

Leaves, they were scented,
Sun-kissed, freshened,
Then came autumn winds,
Turning them golden.

Trees, they play like orchestra,
Every hue a tone,
Every leave a note,
The strings and the woodwinds.

I looked upon white cottages,
And yearned to live in one,
Without trials or tribulations,
Till the end of time.

I go to the hills,
When my heart is afraid,
I know I will hear,
What I've heard before,
My heart will be blessed,
With the hues of music,
And the trees will sing,
In fall once more."

"Why do the leaves change colour? In fall, the days are warm and the nights cold. The drop in temperature grinds chlorophyll production almost to a halt, and the greens give way to the red and yellow pigments underneath. Perhaps in Nature's way, human beings are not too different from maple leaves. In sunny and good times, they are docile and peaceful greens. But thrown into the bitter cold, the hardship, the greens fade, and they turn fiery, passionate, crimson reds."

"There's something of September,
About the onset of Fall,
Not the hope that Spring may bring,
Nor the passion of Summer awe.
Misery of Winter cold has not,
So green turns gold,
Of ephemeral gold,
Like waterfall the leaves they flow.
The traveller journeys,
And on he goes,
Knowing full well,
The melancholy calls."
