Honest take on epic universe. As our first time at epic.
Wait times are crazy depending on what you want to ride. However with the early access we were able to ride the 2 rides at dark universe before the park even opened.
Dark Universe I’d give a solid 8 outta 10. The immersion was great, the detail spectacular, my only wish was there was more to do here. Monsters unchained was as advertised, great ride that didn’t give me any motion issues and the animatronics were next level. Curse of the werewolf is really fun however it is very short. Just over 1 minute long and after 2 rides we had some serious motion sickness as it does spin around.
Ministry of Magic- Sadly this was my least favorite universe and the one I was looking forward to the most. Firstly the wait time for the AOTM was ridiculously long, over 2 hours. We luckily have ada passed so we were able to explore while we waited. The circus show is good but not great. To me it didn’t have the same immersion feel as the other 2 Harry Potter lands. The new spells are really neat however they do take some time to so they can get backed up waiting people to do the spells. The show queue was long and not navigable for scooters, so you have to transfer to a wheelchair if they’re available. The AOTM ride was an interesting story line, however they decided to go with the universal motion simulation and this caused major motion sickness for us. This ride was a one and done for us. Overall I’m giving HP universe a 4-10.
Super Nintendo Universe- This universe is solely built on the power band. To me if you didn’t have the power band there is not much interaction. However that being said the immersion is awesome. The visuals are amazing, we had done it in Hollywood, so we had an idea of what to expect. The donkey Kong ride was great to us, it was a little jerky but not bad and I felt it went with the theme of the ride. The cart jumping the track illusion is great and to us this ride was second best ride in the whole park. The wait time was really long and even with the express pass (Ada) we still waited a good 30 minutes. Next was the Mario cart ride, I think had we not done this in Hollywood prior I would have ranked it higher. However it did give us some motion sickness issues but nothing like AOTM. We didn’t ride yoshi’s ride but it’s just a slow moving ride through the land. I’d rate Super Nintendo world a 5-10. Once you ride the rides, if you don’t have a power band there wasn’t much else to do.
Isle of Berk- This universe was amazing. The immersion, the details, the attractions, everything was great. First thing we did was meet Toothless, we did just miss out on hiccup but meeting and petting Toothless was crazy fun. The wait time said 75 minutes but we only waited maybe 20 minutes and as Hiccup was going in he stopped and talked with Jacob, it was really cute and he was hilarious. Next was the untrainable dragon show. I thought this show was really well done. The story was short but having Hiccup flying over the crowd on Toothless was amazing. Hiccups wing gliders ride was our favorite ride of the park. I think we rode this ride 3 times back to back. Wait times were long but not too long. We decided to bypass the spinning dragon ride. I’m not a huge fan of heights and it didn’t look great to be honest. Overall this land I’d give a 9-10.
Celestial park- we didn’t spend much time here however at night it is beautiful. We did ride the carousel before leaving at night and it’s fine, I mean it’s a carousel, you get it. My biggest complaint is when trying to get to Atlantic to eat we had to walk almost all the way around the park to get to the scooter access. There weren’t many signs directing you where to go. Overall this was a 6-10. Stardust racers was not operating when we were there so there wasn’t much else to do in Celestial. Once this ride is operational I’m sure things would be better.
Overall I think Epic universe was a solid 7-10, even with out stardust racers. My biggest complaint would be the lack of accessibility for scooters. There were many times Brandi had to go out of the way when we were able to just walk to something. There is a lock of shade in certain areas as well. However the attractions and immersion was over all very well done.
