The bayou doesn’t need an animal in the frame to feel wild.

Spanish moss hangs from the cypress 🌿, and floating plants cover the water so completely you could mistake it for solid ground.

Everybody asks about the Spanish moss.

Not everything moving through the grass out here is native to Louisiana.

Nutria look something like a giant swamp rat 🐀, brought in from South America decades ago before spreading through the wetlands on their own.

This big fella was tucked into the grass 🐊, still as a log and easy to miss if you didn’t know where to look.

That’s half the fun of being out in the . One minute you’re riding through quiet water. The next, somebody on the boat is hollering, “There he is!”

Had this gator 🐊 swim right alongside the boat!! Took about two seconds for everybody on board to notice.
