Alaska Airlines will launch nonstop service from Seattle to Rome, with tickets now on sale for flights beginning April 28, 2026. The airline says the route will run daily during the summer season, giving the Pacific Northwest its first direct link to Italy. This is Alaska’s first transatlantic destination from its Seattle hub.

Flights will use Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Earlier materials flagged a May 2026 start and an initial four-times-weekly schedule, but the carrier’s latest update moves the debut to April 28 and upshifts to daily service for summer. Reported schedule examples show an evening Seattle departure with an early-afternoon arrival in Rome, and a mid-afternoon return from Rome arriving back in Seattle in the evening. (Exact times can vary by day.)

Why it matters: travelers in the Northwest will be able to reach Rome without a connection for the first time, with one-ticket links across Alaska’s broader network through Seattle. Airport and airline announcements frame the move as part of Alaska’s push to build Seattle into a larger global gateway alongside new long-haul routes to Tokyo and Seoul.
