We ran into a kindred spirit while wandering at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Cultural Exchange area yesterday: Deryam Popo Amu is a Colombian luthier who makes beautiful and tuneful violins from bamboo. Be sure to check the exchange area: astonishing music and wonderful food too!

We're taking this year off from Jazz Fest, so we won't have a booth but we'll be out enjoying the music and food and rubbing elbows with you all. Have a great time!

I’d never heard of the National Guitar Museum until recently…and I discovered that it’s not a place, it’s a collection of traveling exhibits. Check it out and see if the museum is coming to a location near you. If you have any contacts at a local museum, note that they’re looking for venues.

One of our favorite things about the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is that you never know who’ll stop by the booth. This year we met Jim D’Addario of D'Addario and Co., the folks who make great guitar strings and an amazing variety of other musical accessories. D‘Addario strings have a clever design: the balls on the strings’ ends are different colors so it’s easy to tell which one’s which when changing out a set. Anything that gets us to the playing part faster deserves a round of applause! 👏👏👏
