Our name was derived from the history of my hometown New Orleans, Louisiana and our connection to the Caribbean which was my home for 18 years.
The more I traveled, the more I learned of those connections throughout history and wanted to share them. I created a newsletter by the same name sharing some of those connections, such as the Haitians coming to NOLA in the early days to help with the farming, Hamilton and his connections to NOLA, the foods we eat, the music, the architecture, the Creole language and much more. If you go to such islands as Guadaloupe you will see areas that look a lot like NOLA’s French Quarters. Listen to some early Trinidad music and you will learn that NOLA musicians that were not allowed to play in some venues traveled to T & T and played with their musicians (the clarinet in old Kaiso music). Of course I could go on and on, however; we have now been in the travel business for over 40+ years, lived in Los Angeles 15 years and the US Virgin Islands 18 years and very much involved in Caribbean culture and history in both locations giving me first hand knowledge to share with my clients while helping them create and enjoy the best vacation ever.
