"The Mardi Gras Indians are one of New Orleans' greatest cultural treasures. Every year, the tribes take to the streets, bringing generations of history right along with them. Each suit is an elaborate design of beads, feathers, plumes, and stones: the result of a year's worth of labor, time, money, and creativity.

The Mardi Gras Indian tradition is rooted in a legacy of resistance. Enslaved Africans, escaping the dehumanizing violence of the plantation, found hospice with Native Americans. The Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans endure as the preservers of a distinctive cultural legacy."

Happy 311 Day! 🎸Here is a video from a 311 show at the Fillmore in New Orleans in 2022 ⚡️

311 Day started with one legendary show in New Orleans, on March 11th, 2000 ‼️
The band played a 3 hour, 11 min show at the State Palace Theatre (known as one of the most spectacular abandoned theatres in the country, now sitting empty on Canal Street). I heard the mayor at the time even declared March 11th officially 311 day?

It has now been 26 years of celebrating 311 Day, with the latest 311 Day Show in Las Vegas taking place over two days for over 10,000 fans! Hopefully 311 Day will return to New Orleans one day ⚜️

✈️ Govt shutdown causes *massive* TSA lines at New Orleans MSY! 😳

The partial govt shutdown has caused a shortage in TSA workers, who have been working without pay during the shutdown. Travelers advised to arrive at least 3 hours ahead of their scheduled departure time.

U.S. travel is becoming even more of a hot mess in 2026 with the govt shutdowns, weather, and corporate airlines choosing profits over people.
