A little travel reality check.

Sometimes the beach has sargassum. Sometimes the rain shows up at the exact wrong time. Sometimes the day looks very different from what you pictured.

That doesn’t automatically mean the trip is ruined.

In Belize, the beach in front of our resort had sargassum, but we still had quiet mornings, good food, pool time, and a beautiful day at Secret Beach.

In St. Lucia, I got soaked to the bone in a rainstorm while visiting the sulphur springs.

In Porto, my husband and I got caught in the rain while walking across a bridge.

Not ideal in the moment, but still part of the trip.

That’s why realistic expectations matter. Travel can still be beautiful, meaningful, and worth it — even when every moment doesn’t look like the photos.

Europe is not a checklist.

It’s tempting to squeeze every city into one trip, especially when you’re traveling far and want to make the most of it.

But more stops can also mean more packing, more transfers, more train stations, and less time actually enjoying where you are.

Sometimes the better trip is the one with fewer stops and more time to enjoy them.

That’s where planning makes a difference — not just choosing beautiful places, but making sure the trip actually works day by day.

Traveling with your adult children can be such a special kind of trip.

For this family, the original idea was Scandinavia — Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Norway.

All beautiful places, but for the amount of time they had, it would have meant a lot of moving around and not enough time to actually enjoy each stop.

So we narrowed it down to Stockholm and Copenhagen, giving them a better pace, time to explore, and a trip that still feels special without being overpacked.

This is the kind of planning I love — helping clients turn a general idea into a trip that actually fits how they want to travel.
