Bangkok really surprised me. 🇹🇭
Asia had been whispering to us for a while, but Thailand honestly wasn’t high on the list. I thought I’d go back to Bali… maybe India… maybe Vietnam. Thailand was just kind of there in the background.
Then one night we found one-way flights to Bangkok and something in us just said, “Why not?” No plan, no logic — just a feeling we decided to follow.
The last couple months were insane: Chicago, Puerto Rico, hosting my retreat, Oaxaca, packing up our things, bringing Prim to my mom’s. Four flights in four days. By the time we landed in Bangkok, I was completely sick — the kind of tired that makes your whole body slow down whether you want to or not.
We booked this tiny old shophouse in Chinatown with zero expectations. And after spending a week here, Bangkok has surprised me. It’s loud and chaotic but also weirdly comforting.
I love the monks walking in the mornings, the fruit stands everywhere, the random pockets of calm in the middle of the noise. I still don’t “get” Bangkok, but maybe you’re not supposed to.
Somehow this messy, unplanned, exhausted arrival feels like the softest beginning. A beginning I didn’t even know I needed. 🧡✨🛕
