Only managed to stop by Fancy Food for a few hours this year but found some great new products & companies and run into some people I hadn’t seen in a while!

My favorite bites and sips were
- the Malatown instant vermicelli noodles - I just love the numbing sensation of málà and these noodles reminded me of a brand I often bought in China
- the cream cheese and goat cheese from Bettani - a new vegan dairy brand that was born out of Stockled and Numu - be on the lookout at bagel shops etc! Their products are super creamy, high protein and just delicious - plus free of common allergens as they are h**p based
- Elmhurst‘s new fermented oat beverage called Good Day Darling - it’s got nice acidity, a bit of bready yeast taste and can easily be served in place of a sparkling wine on a hot summer day!

I will add that as a vegan, you have to be more and more careful what you taste at shows like this and, subsequently, what you buy in stores: even your humble potato chips - such as those with the cute name Vandy (which is what some friends call my husband and I - Verena-Andy = Vandy) can be fried in beef tallow!

Overall, the show always offers something new, showcases 75% Italian food, tons of olive oil and about two handfuls of really interesting, new products. I’m always most impressed by products‘ designs and booth designs.

A few new options at New York‘s La Guardia airport Terminal C! If you’ve flown out of LGA before, there was basically nothing available!
There’s a pizza place with a vegan option and Protein Bar which has a few options for hungry vegans (clearly labeled)
Plus a Chopt salad where you can veganize a salad/bowl.
Of course it’s overpriced airport food and it never hurts to bring your own but options are always good to have!
Any great airport finds recently?

Saturdays are for farmers markets - whether it’s in the city (our tour meets right by the Union Square market, which is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) or further upstate.
New Paltz‘s market is super cute, not nearly as busy as the one in Kingston!
Picked up the first strawberries of the season!

Little Loaf bakeshop is a 2min walk from the market, which has more parking and they now have mini versions of some of their pastries which I’m super happy to see

Just one week left to sign up for our trip to Uzbekistan - use code VEGANSILKROAD for 10% off

Step back in time along the fabled Silk Road — and forward into a new chapter of vegan travel. This first-of-its-kind journey invites you to explore Uzbekistan’s dazzling architecture, ancient cities, and warm hospitality, all through a consciously curated, plant-based lens.

From the blue-domed splendor of Samarkand and the labyrinthine bazaars of Bukhara to the desert citadels of Khiva, you’ll trace centuries of trade, art, and spirituality — while savoring creative vegan adaptations of Central Asia’s hearty cuisine. Along the way, we’ll partner with local chefs and hosts to craft new culinary experiences that honor tradition while embracing compassion.

As one of the first fully vegan group tours (or the first?) to Uzbekistan, this adventure will be both rewarding and pioneering. Infrastructure for vegan dining is still emerging, and at times the journey may present small challenges — but those moments are part of what makes it meaningful. Together, we’ll help plant the seeds of a more sustainable and inclusive future for travelers and communities alike.

Discover the Silk Road as few have before — vegan, mindful, and deeply connected to the heart of Central Asia.

This past weekend, we set up „windy shop“ at the in Asbury Park!

Weather was perfect (if windy) and a great crowd came to visit us. Lots of friends stopped by, too - thanks for bringing various foods to try!

Special thanks to my hubby for tagging, dragging and driving!

What was your favorite bite? What do you wish you’d tasted?!

Crown Heights’s breakfast & lunch scene just got a great addition!

Nacha Focaccia isn’t your average focaccia spot - the team behind it merries everyone’s favorite Italian bread with global flavors from Japan to Mauritius.

While I’ve, so far, only tried their katsu (with fried tofu, cabbage slaw, cucumber salad and to tonkatsu sauce) and their strawberry matcha with cherry foam, I highly doubt you can make a bad choice here.

The space is inviting with ample seating, real greenery and, most importantly, super friendly staff who truly speak hospitality (where do you still find people like that?!)!

Do yourself a favor and pay them a visit!
