Winter storms in both Texas and New York decided to change my travel plans and extend my stay in Texas a bit, but now I am finally home!

I had the most incredible time on the Disney Magic and I must confess, I am in love with this ‘mother’ship (the Disney Magic was the very first Disney Cruise Line ship - she started sailing in 1998!!).

I can’t wait to share more about our Disney Magic work (and play) cruise, but for now, here are a few of my favorite pictures.

Day 4 Disney Destiny - Maiden Voyage Recap

🚢 Our last full day onboard was the perfect mix of fun, fan-girling and relaxation.

🚢 Our first activity of the day - princess bounding for the Princess Gathering! The Princess Gathering is a reserved meet and greet opportunity where several Disney princesses appear together in the Grand Hall for photos and interactions.

🚢 From there we headed to a Q & A with the incredible performers from the Heroes and Villains one night only show. Hearing Susan Egan, Jordan Fisher and James Monroe Iglehart talk about their careers and the process of creating the show was a treat.
More trivia and ship exploring followed before we got in line early (like really early - but we had cocktails!) for the 2pm performance of Hercules. This show is unbelievable. A total must see. Do not miss it. My Broadway loving heart was so happy.

🚢 Later in the afternoon while wandering I caught some of the entertainment from the storytellers Zayah and Gamble. The tale they were weaving in the Grand Hall was Sleeping Beauty: A Mostly Accurate Tale and it was hilarious. They pull audience members into the story which makes it even more entertaining and delightfully chaotic.

🚢 Next up was an attempt to start the Midship Happy Haunts game, only to discover our DisneyBand+ needed a full charge to work for the game. We ran them back to the stateroom and pivoted our plans. A little Rainforest Room time, sunset funnel photos, a surprise run in with Loki and a drink at Cask and Cannon kept us busy until evening.

🚢 Before our final dinner together we spent some time in the Haunted Mansion Parlor with one of their signature mocktails. After dinner the night got even busier. We headed to our bourbon tasting class in Cove Cafe which was a fun way to toast the trip.

🚢 Just after midnight and with our DisneyBand+ finally charged, we wrapped up the Happy Haunts game and found all nine spirits. I absolutely loved this new midship game. It seems like Disney left room to expand the storyline so I cannot wait to see what new mysteries appear the next time I sail the Destiny.

🚢 And just like that, our magical maiden voyage came to an end. I know I will be back soon. As Madame Leota says, hurry baaaack (and I will)!

Day 3 Disney Destiny - Maiden Voyage Recap

🚢 Because cruising is also about relaxation, we chose to sleep in a bit before disembarking for something extra special we booked for our time on Castaway Cay.

🚢 After making our way off the ship and down to Mount Rustmore we met up with Polli, photographer extraordinaire, and had a beach photoshoot with Shutters (the photo studio on board Disney Cruise Line) and it was one of my favorite experiences with my favorite people!!What had us laughing the most - sprinting toward a flock of seagulls (anything for the shot) only to end up running much further into the water than planned - whoops hahaha. After our session was completed we scheduled our photo review time for that evening.

🚢 Since it was VERY HOT and I’ve been to Castaway Cay before, I opted to head back to the ship. Once back onboard I grabbed an iced dirty chai at Cove Cafe (don’t forget to get your cafe fanatic card punched), had lunch at the buffet - Mickeys & Friends Festival of Foods, and spent the afternoon exploring the amazing Disney Destiny!

🚢 Okay- can I gush about this ship for a minute?! I cannot say enough about how special this ship is. The atrium serves as a magnificent centerpiece, filled with bold colors and stunning details that set the scene for stories inspired by brave and bold characters. The storytelling continues throughout the ship - from Cafe Megara, to the Sanctum, De Vil’s & Haunted Mansion Parlor, to the vibrant kids clubs. The ship feels like a collection of magical realms woven together, heroes and villains at every turn continuing their stories where their movies left off, but on the Disney Destiny you get to play a role in what happens next! The whole ship had me in my feels, Disney really knows what they are doing!!

🚢 After solo exploring and immersing myself in the ship (and before getting ready to party like pirates) I ran into pirate Chip and Dale - we danced around the atrium and concluded they are the captains of the Disney Destiny now (sorry Captain Minnie).

🚢 Reunited with my favorites we stopped by Shutters to view our Castaway pictures and to no one’s surprise we oooed and awwwed over every one and ended up buying the package that included all of the photos taken during our session (money well spent on memories to last a lifetime).

🚢 From there we headed to 00’s music trivia where we scored a perfect 40 out of 40 but still lost the tiebreaker. I will never forget how many times Taylor Swift repeats Shake It Off (it’s 36 if you’re wondering).

🚢 Pirate night is always a fun time and we have the pirate ‘family’ pictures to prove it! After our Pirates in the Caribbean dinner at 1923 we opted to skip the deck party and fireworks for such much needed girl time - squeezing 4 of us on the DCL bed was hilarious and we had the best time making memories together in our pjs (and yes - we had 2 sets of matching pjs).

Day 2 Disney Destiny - Maiden Voyage Recap

Jumping back into my cruise daily recaps!!

🚢 Our first port stop on the Disney Destiny Maiden Voyage was the new(ish) Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and after visiting last June for the inaugural at Lookout Cay, I am happy to report Disney has already made massive improvements since my first experience.

🚢 After stepping off the ship, it is a decent walk down the pier before reaching the tram station, then a quick ride brings you right to the beaches. The tram ride sets the tone of your visit to the island with a cute narration by Sandy the land crab and Lizzy the curly-tailed lizard.

🏝️ Lookout Cay is one of those places that immediately feels different in the best way. The beach is stunning, soft sand and turquoise blue waters - a Caribbean Dream. But more than that is the culture infused at every turn - the buildings have that Bahamian island style, the colors inspired by local art/artists, and the entertainment is rooted in Bahamian culture with drums, dancing and costumes.

🏝️ After snapping a few photos showing off the idyllic setting, we joined the rest of our group at our perfect beachfront spot. The rest of our day on Lookout was all about relaxation - beach lounging at its best. After lunch at the buffet I treated myself to a pina colada, my absolute favorite beach drink on a warm island day. What happened next? More beach lounging of course!

🏝️ As we made our way back to the ship, we walked right into the RUSH! A Junkanoo
Celebration at the Goombay Cultural Center. The energy was incredible and Mickey and Minnie join in on the celebration too! After enjoying the dancing, we grabbed a few more photos with the gorgeous Bahamian inspired Fab 5 backdrops and the decorated trees - who doesn’t love Caribbean Christmas!

🚢 Back onboard, it was time to get ready for one of the most special moments of the sailing - Our exclusive Maiden Voyage show - Heroes and Villains One Night Only. The cast was stacked with stars including Destiny Godmother Susan Egan, Jordan Fisher and James Monroe Iglehart (my Broadway loving heart was in its glory). The arrangements were phenomenal and the whole show felt like a gift to everyone in the theater. My personal favorites - a tie between the full cast performance of We Don’t Talk About Bruno and Jordan Fisher bringing down the house (vocally and comedically) with Lost in the Woods from Frozen 2.

🚢 Dinner followed at 1923 which continues to be my top dining choice on the this class of Disney ships. We wrapped up the night with some adult fun - Majority Minds, Match Your Mate (another personal favorite on Disney Cruises) and a round of drinks in the Sanctum (the lounge inspired by Dr. Strange).

🚢 Phew what a day. Come back tomorrow for Day 3 aboard the Disney Destiny Maiden Voyage and our time on Castaway Cay (Private Photoshoot included)!

I know I’m behind and I’ll finish my daily cruise (plus WDW Very Merry/Epic) recaps over the next few days but first a Disney Destiny Cruise Highlights Reel.

For me, the Disney Destiny was already a dream ship, but getting to experience its Maiden Voyage with my travel besties, who have fully crossed over into family territory, made it unforgettable.

Highlights from a week I’ll be replaying forever:

💙 Heroes & Villains Concert with Jordan Fisher, Susan Egan (godmother to the Disney Destiny), James Monroe Iglehart, and more! An absolutely electric show that had us smiling, laughing, singing, and maybe tearing up a bit when they sang Happily Ever After!

💙 Hercules: The Musical - totally different from the Papermill version I saw, but SO impressive for a cruise ship production. The talent onboard blew me away. It’s a show I would definitely watch again and again.

💙 Beach days on Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay - pure paradise. And the Shutters photo session with my girls on Castaway? Those pictures are going to live on my walls (and in my heart) forever.

💙 Adult lounges became our nightly playground: De Vil’s (so fun), The Sanctum (our trivia kingdom), Haunted Mansion Parlor (still my favorite vibes on the Treasure and the Destiny), and Cask & Canon for the perfect nightcap.

💙 Hours in the Rainforest Room, melting into the hot stone loungers and soaking in the private hot tubs like we had the place to ourselves.

💙 Random character encounters that can only happy on a Disney Cruise ship. I see you my favorite trouble making ‘Pirate Captains’ Chip and Dale hahaha.

💙 Crushing the Haunted Mansion Happy Haunt game on our last night, after a bourbon tasting, no less. A true accomplishment.

💙 And above all… the nonstop laughter. The inside jokes. The late-night talks. Becoming a Pritchett (sorry, you’re stuck with me now). I didn’t know a cruise ship could give me people who feel like home, but here we are.

This ship completely stole my heart. I’m already searching for our next sailing on this ship because I need to come back - this time with Neil in tow!

Day 1 Disney Destiny - Maiden Voyage Recap

🚢 It’s time to start our main event adventure!! Our whole crew woke up bright and early and packed the car (so many suitcases) for our drive from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. The good news - we had Starbucks in hand and laughs for the whole drive down!
🚢 We arrived just in time for our PAT and after some Maiden Voyage pictures we boarded the beautiful Disney Destiny.
🚢 After some exploration we settled in for embarkation lunch at Pridelands. This is always a must for me since I prefer a relaxing sit-down meal to the busy buffet, and the embarkation sundae never disappoints.
🚢 We got word that our rooms were ready during lunch, so that was our next stop to unpack a bit before muster drill (how beautiful is our Merida themed Inside Room!)
🚢 Maiden Voyage Sail Away was so special - we enjoyed a champagne sail away featuring Susan Egan, the voice of Meg from Hercules and the godmother of the Disney Destiny.
🚢 Since we had some time after sail- away we spent a peaceful stretch of the afternoon in the rainforest room, which felt like our own private oasis.
🚢 On our way back to our room to get ready for dinner we spotted Superhero Minnie (how cute is she), took photos, and then won Disney Sidekick Trivia (we definitely guessed on a few but the fates were on our side and we ended up getting a 20/20!!)
🚢 Dinner was at Pridelands where both the food and the show were incredible. Dinner service was a bit slow but that will improve as the cast members get more into a groove with the new ship.
🚢 And finally, we ended the night with the Marvel comedy show With Great Power (hilarious 5 stars, a must see) and a nightcap at De Vil’s.

It was certainly a busy but amazing day aboard the Disney Destiny with my travel besties! Today we are at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point enjoying some sun and sand (and maybe a Pina Colada)! Stay tuned for my Day 2 recap tomorrow!!
