Cinco De Mayo commemorates the remarkable victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, and for me is a celebration of Mexican art and culture and beyond Mexico, celebrated in the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa, and Japan. In celebration, I am spotlighting a few artists who I met and artwork
I collected besides a video of one of my recent visits to San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and recently visited Oaxaca and the Zona Maco art fairs in Mexico City.
Who and what do you collect?
If not collecting yet, let me help you
Some of the Latino Artists I collect:
- Lidzie Alvisa Jiménez photographer of diptych, “Sunflower”,
purchased from Nina Menocal Gallery at Miami Art Basel.
- Carlos Donjuan painter, “Scumset”, purchased from Cheech Marin and Thomas Paul Fine Art, as a part of The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum in California.
- Angel Ortiz (LA II, LA Roc) painter, “Electrocat”, graffiti artist and visual artist known for his collaborations with Keith Haring in the 70s and 80s. Ortiz influenced Haring’s compositions with his colors.
