Before turning our focus to re-imagining the new normal and what that would look like, our primary responsibility was to all of our groups whose prepaid trips were being impacted by COVID-19. Simply put, those groups needed to be made whole without unnecessary delay, full stop.
To that end, we adopted a “no excuses” position of requesting full refunds within 45-days, from our suppliers, on behalf of those groups. In a few instances we had to muster up our inner squeaky wheel to get it done.
On April 27, 2020, we announced here on FB that we have either provided or will soon provide a full 100% refund to all of our Spring 2020 Groups whose trips have been impacted by COVID-19.
Re-imagining the “new normal” for student group travel, especially to NYC, requires enhanced awareness and contextual empathy. In many instances, students have to fund raise as they look forward to their performance travel opportunity as a “rite of passage.”
We believe that by proactively addressing the health & safety unease, brought about by COVID-19, that individual students, parents, chaperones, and administrators may have, is the first of a series of baby steps towards reestablishing student group travel confidence. It is essential that we balance; best practices for the use of face coverings as needed, responsible student group friendly social distancing techniques in hotels, when out & about and at restaurants, etc., with a superior guest experience.
